Are sedge impervious to pre-M? I was having a conversation with a coworker who is having sedge issues and applied a PM in the perfect window.
Mowed at 4" tonight for the first time this year. Grass looks great. I think my latest Milo application popped in the past few days. That stuff makes the grass such a nice shade of green.

Many (most, including Purple and Yellow) Sedges are short-lived perennials, and Pre-M's affect seeds, not overwintered nutlets.

I've had good luck with
sedgehammer. I am battling less and less each year using it.

I have found that, if you get them early, pulling the sedge works very well. Otherwise, yeah, there are lots of chemicals out there that will do the trick.

Yep, Ortho Sedge Killer, Tenacity, Sedgehammer all are options - seems to me once you kill whats in the soil.... ends the cycle of plants and nutlet spawning.... and they are all gone.

Mowed front (3.25). Watered hellstrips (5PM) by hand. Sprayed a very, very low concentration of Tenacity with surfactant (maybe 0.1oz rate) on the seeded area in the low-input area to suppress the weeds but not harm the fine fescue seedlings.
Took delivery of 50 lbs. each of Tricure granular and SOP.
Still removing caterpillars from the small tree. Can hear them chewing at night in the trees. Must be many thousands of them.
To-do list:
Tomorrow if the weather cooperates: Spray PGR at half rate on side front. Mow back, side, and part of low-input area. Put down organic fertilizer on more areas. Pull Timothy/other forage grass.
Sunday(?): Spray Tenacity again at 1oz rate on areas with forage grasses. More fertilizing or start SOP apps. Spray Triclopyr where needed. Spray Velocity on main front at 0.35 grams per gallon again.
Hand trim in a few spots.
Go to hardware store and buy more Milorganite/order surfactant.

Checked up on my tall fescue / clover / wildflower lawn @ the cabin / timberland property. Had to clear out a couple more trees that came down on the long drive in along the ridgeline trail. Holy smokes that was some work in 91 degrees! But I have plenty of firewood now, and I may cut some thick boards for a farmhouse table.
Keeping the timberland healthy requires clearing out brush and downed trees - it's a lot of work - but I find that kind of hard, sweaty work very relaxing and satisfying when I crash in the evening. Makes me appreciate air conditioning, ice, and scotch!

Cut lowering to 3.25 as I'll be nuking the rest of back tomorrow for this years Reno. Speaking of so glad I didn't Reno front last year as my front has suffered some damage thanks to the never ending road work that is going on month number 4 this week.
I was hoping to finish the paver edge in the back today but just too hot so I only got halfway done what was left with the plan to finish tomorrow.

Got a half inch of rain today. Set the sprinklers to run for an hour for zones 1-4 tomorrow morning to top it off to an inch. Zone 5 will have to be done manually or possibly another day.
Sprayed half rate of PGR (generic Primo, 0.3oz rate) as the final app for the garage side overseed area. This app should reduce the rebound effect.
Sprayed Triclopyr on Clover in the front. Still some left in the sprayer for another time.
Tomorrow: mow side, back, and part of low-input area. Maybe apply more organic fertilizer or start SOP.

The kids playscape area hasnt had new mulch in years so it was pretty broken down and figured i could use it to add some OM. Sifted out the bigger pieces of mulch and spread on the lawn...about 4 wheelbarrows full over 1800 sq ft.
