(Seiyafan and I are in the same county)
The Saturday thunderstorms were spotty. At my home, there was 0.75" from a good 30-minute storm. I was in Tuxedo Park, and it was a near-miss.

It's been in the upper 80's to low 90's with about a half inch a day and high humidity and Dew points.
That acreage behind me can take some rain, but day after day of moderate to heavy showers and she lets loose right through the middle of the yard.
I'll get a shipping quote on 20 acres of runoff after work.

I mowed/trimmed/edged the front yard.
And I sprayed some.. crabgrass! There is a strip of my neighbors lawn that I basically take care of as it's one mower width and then their second driveway. I must not have put pre-m down for some reason cuz the only crabgrass here is in that spot. But I'm not sure why I wouldn't have sprayed it.. Will make for a good how to video though =P

Better yet, ship some rain-making clouds, I will release them from the bag above my lawn.

Sprinklers are set for tonight. Going 3/4 an inch in each zone. We are supposed to get rain Thursday but it's been so wacky lately who knows how much we will get. I'd rather know I got close to my weekly amount down at once.

Mowed the remaining two-thirds closest part of the low-input area tonight. 3.75 inches. 8 days was too long. It was longer than I'd like.

Front/sides: The NoMix "feels" dry. Decided to mow it @4". Set hose end timer to water tomorrow morning.
Back: Sprayed Serenade @4oz/k.

I had the same thought when I watered the full inch on Sunday/Monday. I don't expect that anyone will be any less surprised than me that we have gotten 2.25" of rain since last night. Not going to complain one bit, though. Just have to stay out of the back yard for a day or so unless I am wearing waders.bauer time wrote:Sprinklers are set for tonight. Ever since Mrs. oze received her Master Gardener certification, volcano mulching around the base of trees has been her pet peeve.

Trimmed behind deck. Sprayed Velocity (1.5g in 2 gallons of water). Blanket sprayed main front, and spot sprayed back and lower part of side. Between this, some Tenacity spot sprays, and drought stress, the front isn't looking that great lately. Also sprayed Triclopyr (spot sprayed side, back, and parts of low-input area).
Set sprinkler system to go off tomorrow morning for 2 hours on side front in 6 20-min watering intervals with 10 min between each.
Reset timer for seeded area from 6x per day/every 4 hours to 3x per day/every 8 hours, and increased watering time slightly.

Trimmed some hedges. Shocked that the lithium battery still had juice. I have not used or charged it since last year.
Ordered the Earthway 3-side deflector.

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
Everything is relative. We've had a lot of rain here so far this month. Almost .25 inch. And that's after getting over 2 inches last month.seiyafan wrote:Lawn is taking a beating from the dry and somewhat hot June. Looking at the history report over 7 inches of rain fell in June of 2015. So far we are halfway through the month and only 1 inch has fallen. What's worse? I don't see any rain in the forecast for the next 7 to 10 days.
Needless to say, I haven't had to water yet, although I'll probably turn the water on this weekend to test the system.

Let there be rain for the first time in 8 days but felt more like a month.
Here are some updated pics of the construction on my street, guess I picked the right year to Reno. Someone is supposed to fill in the gaps but I love how they just raked the big pile of dirt into my lawn and left my irrigation heads just sitting there along the curb.

Syringed stressed areas of lawn. I really need an irrigation system.
