See that's so weird. This year I decided to mulch it at different levels and do several passes. I had hardly anything to rake up. Raking and top dressing are nasty jobs. Reminds me of baling hay on the farms growing up.

Scalped and bagged about 8K this am. Ug. And that was BEFORE the 90+ temperatures set in.

Trying to not let the grass in the front/side go dormant. Been syringing it every few hours before the kill. Way too hot atm to be outside.

That's typical of us, water the lawn only to kill it a few days later.

I got the first "'you're crazy" from my neighbor today, who I warned monthss ago that this turfpocolypse was coming.

"Your lawn already looked like a golf couurse."

"No it didn't. It'll be back in September."

I've had this happen as well. I may have jumped the gun a little on the kill. It is really hard to describe with words the lawn we are trying to achieve. You can explain "yeah it more disease resistant... Color is better....ect." and they're no longer paying attention.

I reel mowed to 7/18". Aerated, edged, weedeated.
Put down pre-em and 19-19-19.
Cut my neighbors yard because he's out of town. Kicked my butt in the heat. Double score for the unexpected storm just as i was finishing.

Hey, we like seeing those low-cut Bermuda lawns from time to time, especially in the midst of a heat wave when our own turf is struggling to cope!

No worries mq. And ken, i'm jealous that you have green grass in the winter.
One day i'm gonna learn how to overseed in the fall for winter green!

I'm addicted to my yard....someone help me.

No turning back now. Sprayed glyphosate on the lawn late yesterday and of course, it rains over night. :rotfl:

I think glypho is rainfast after an hour, if memory serves. I'd be happy with 4 or more hours, just to be on the safe side.

I sprayed glypho 2 weeks ago on a 2k SF area in the afternoon/evening and then started fallowing early the next morning (~6 to ~8 hrs later). It's all dead, except for the two very obvious patches that I completely missed. And I even used a tracker dye. :banghead:

After getting 2" of rain early this morning we are getting hammered again with at least that but prob more with high winds, thunder and lightning.

This kind of storm would be a Reno killer as it wasn't in the forecast and no end in sight.

It should be against forum rules for people to brag about getting rain. :-p

Came home to find two large trees split in half and straddling my fence. One looks to have been struck by lightining, the other seems to have been just wind. One of them even leveled a 7' Norway spruce in its path. Glad it was just the fence and some trees/flowers and not any of the surrounding homes.

Today I sprayed Prodiamine, I was going to do it in August but after seeing my spring reno is getting invaded by a weed which I am unfamiliar of, I decide to do it today.

The weed had lighter green color, with very thin, firm and erect leaves, roots were shallow. They were easy to pull out and came as a bunch, does anyone recognize it without a picture?
