Sounds like Nutsedge but impossible to say for sure without a picseiyafan wrote:Today I sprayed Prodiamine, I was going to do it in August but after seeing my spring reno is getting invaded by a weed which I am unfamiliar of, I decide to do it today.
The weed had lighter green color, with very thin, firm and erect leaves, roots were shallow. They were easy to pull out and came as a bunch, does anyone recognize it without a picture?

They actually suggest watering the next day as it encourages growth which makes it absorb the glyphosateericgautier wrote:No turning back now. Sprayed glyphosate on the lawn late yesterday and of course, it rains over night.

So it took an hour for me to get the kids to clean up the backyard for when the sprinklers go off tomorrow. It wasn't until after I realized today was Tuesday and not Thursday.
I might glyphosate the back tomorrow since its clear lol wife doesn't know tho

First scalp of the front and side reno. Mowed at 2.125" from 3" when I sprayed 3 days ago. I'll do second round either Friday or Saturday at 1".

Nice! How difficult is it to get your security cam footage on youtube? Mine saves in .dav files and nothing opens them.. Meh

Thanks. Mine saves it to .mp4 so it is pretty easy.tlinden wrote:Nice! How difficult is it to get your security cam footage on youtube? Mine saves in .dav files and nothing opens them.. Meh
You probably need to convert your files first to make it work. Look for a .dav converter and see if you can convert it over to .mp4 format. This might be a start - http://www.techisky.com/how-to/dav-conv ... pcmac.html

Last night it finally dropped below 90 degrees, so I sprayed some crabgrass with Tenacity. I'm getting some small patches in the area where I didn't drop any Dimension this summer because I want to overseed it in the fall. I'm assuming I'll have to do a second app in a few days? First time using Tenacity. Usually I use Weed-b-gon on crabgrass.

Bdezz, you'd probably be better off sticking with the Weed B Gon Plus Crabgrass Control, even with its arguably insufficient amount of quinclorac. If your crabgrass is even remotely mature, you likely won't have much luck with Tenacity. If it's very young, Tenacity should work, but it will definitely require a second app, quite likely even a third, spaced 7–10 days apart. The best time to reapply is when the bleaching is most prominent.

Blanket sprayed Honor Guard (Propicanazole) at 2 oz per thousand square feet on 07/27. Dollar spot is everywhere.

2-3 inches of rain coming in the next couple of days and I want to drop seeds for my fall reno this weekend, good luck to me.
I was planning to drop some milo but I am having second thoughts with that amount of rain, I think it should be fine.
Update: So far more rain has fallen here this week than the entire month of June.

I spread 2 yard of topsoil in a couple of low spots in the back yard. I then mulched the flower beds with a yard of mulch.
It rained the last 2.5 hours. We needed the rain bad so I will not complain.
I plan to nuke the back yard this weekend. More on that to come in a reno thread.

Thanks for the links. That first one from Greenbum doesn't look very promising for me since some of my crabgrass has already matured, but most are still young. I guess pulling out the more mature clumps and hitting them with Weed-b-gon with crabgrass control is in order for this weekend.TimmyG wrote:Bdezz, you'd probably be better off sticking with the Weed B Gon Plus Crabgrass Control, even with its arguably insufficient amount of quinclorac. Mowed backyard @3.5".
Taking advantage of the rain we had this morning to avoid a dust bowl. After mowing the backyard, decided to scalp the side. Wasn't able to mow at 1". Well I didn't try. Deck was practically on the ground and wheels barely touching. Decided to raise it up to the next setting 1.375". I did several passes and can definitely see the soil. I might try 1" next time.
Scalping the front at 1.375" should be fun.

Have to bring out the big guns.......with all the heat, high humidity and rain the weekly Serenade apps of 4 oz/ 1k were not enough.
Had a new bag of Pillar G sitting around from last year. Hopefully it does the job.

Sprayed Serenade last night.
Got 2 inches of rain this week so far and probably 2 more inches by Sunday, this morning I heard the sound of impact sprinkler from one of the neighbors.

Dropped HOC from 4" to 3". Plan to lower deck a bit each cut the next few weeks in preparation for overseed.
Dropped Milo bag rate, SOP/Mule Team/Maganese Sulfate per my soil program.

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
Finished my least favorite lawn task of the year: the mid-summer micro application (boron, zinc, copper this year). Despite it being a nice morning for it - temps in the 70s with relatively low humidity for July - the sun was strong and I contributed my requisite bucket of sweat.
It feels great to be done. Hopefully we'll get some much-needed rain tonight into tomorrow. The 1-2" they forecast for Friday ended up being only 0.21" in my central CT neighborhood.
Thanks to the advice on this site (higher cut than everyone else in my neighborhood, and probably significantly higher organic content with the mulching and compost apps), the lawn's holding up fairly well despite the lack of rain. I do have more weeds than normal for this time of year, but I skipped both the pre-emergent in the spring and the usual herbicides apps, so all things considered it looks pretty good.

Up to 4 inches of rain is in the forecast for this afternoon and tonight, I hope they are wrong this time.
