It's also possible to buy $15 off $50 Lowe's coupons online, which brings my price down to about $8.50/bag for 12 bags, tax included. Still kinda pricey but the best price by far for my area.

Hadley, MA, isn't too crazy far from Quincy. You should see if Bay State delivers out your way.

That sale isn't that great as mentioned you can get $15 off a $50 order (effectively 30% off) with ebay coupons......i usually do that with anything i buy from lowes!

But you can't beat $3.50 a bag for baystate.....no tax either :)

I've done the Baystate thing in years past. Bought 3/4 of a pallet or so. A tank of gas did eat up some of the savings. I figured if I find milo on sale locally, plus taking a biz tax deduction for it that is good enough for me.
What it really boils down to is I'm too lazy/busy to make the 4 hour round trip. :D Will most likely do it again some time soon though.

Did Baystate convert over to plastic bags? or still paper?

Not sure why people only consider the cost of gas when making the trip to Quincy. Factor in vehicle depreciation and your time, and the true cost of Bay State can skyrocket, making $10 Milorganite the better deal. There's a reason I suggested inquiring about delivery. Search the forums for my many posts on the subject. I'll take Bay State delivered at the cost of $6.66/bag (by the pallet) any day...except for the past 2 or 3 years when I've been milking the True Value deal on Milorganite.

The adage "taking the train only saves you money if your time is worth nothing) comes to mind....

I'm frugal but I'm not drive 4 hours to save $100 frugal.

In Wichita, far from the source, $8.50 a bag out the door is about as good a deal as I'm likely to find short of one of those mythical Walmart fire sales that maybe pops up once a year.

I've been getting it for 2 years now and it's always been a plastic bag. Can't imagine paper!

Yup, Bay State Fertilizer used to be sold in paper bags.

The first batch of Bay State in plastic bags actually went to one of our members, tlinden, back in April of 2015.

Before that, the bags were paper, as shown below from the thread Making a trip to Bay State Fertilizer

Just checked my local Menards, saw the price was still $12.99.

Pulled up the Menards in Lavonia, MI (on my way to work) and they have bags at $7.99. Placed an order for 8 bags that I'll scoop up tomorrow after work! Almost $35 worth in savings. Should last me the rest of the year or close to it!

Bojangles, did you ask if the local menards would price match? I shop at the warren store and they matched the chesterfield location for 7.99/bag.

Indy friends. Menards is showing online 9.97 price until today at the fishers store. The fishers store only has 7 bags available.

I've noticed that sometimes Menards online price of a product is different than in my local store. I'm sure you can just order online and pickup in the store of your selection. I've done it with flooring before.

A few weeks back my local Menards had Milorganite for $6.99. It's $8.99 now but it seems to go back on sale every week or two.
