Milo in July

Does anyone apply this time of year for a shot of iron?

I do, but not necessarily for the Iron. I cut back from heavy use to only bag rate once during July. My intention is really to continue a food supply to the microherd.

Same as Andy here - I go from bag rate every few weeks, down to... about half that. Gotta get out in the yard... feel like i'm doing something... :-/

I figure it helps prevent there being a significant downturn in nitrogen levels or food supply

Also milo is slower acting, I hate to have too big of a lag in available-nitrogen/growth/iron in August/Sept when it's prime time :)

My problem is that the combination of temperatures, rainfall, fertilization and my irrigation efforts has somehow allowed the grass to continue as if Spring Flush was still underway. The slowdown has been only slight, and keeping up with an acre at 4" height has been a challenge. Still having to double-mow sometimes.

Some people would go for the smell, you never know.

I dropped milo in July because I have one fall reno from last year and one spring reno this year.

I usually do one app the first week of July. I skip August though and restart in September.

:good:

I'm guilty. I just can't get enough of it. It sucks that my lawn gobbles it up quicker and quicker so I really only smell it now when I'm dropping it down.

Question about Milo bag rate & deployment:
If the bag says for my Earthway to set at 19 & then shows the overlap dispensing method.

Do I still set it @ 19 or do I set it @ 9.5?

I might have inadvertently laid down too little - which is good for some during July's hot months - but @ 9.5, it appears I used 3 bags too perfectly for my 7.5K lawn.

I did this year, but only because I was late on my late Spring/early Summer Nitrogen application and it turned into July before I was able to put it all down.

19 is spot on bag rate for the 2170 at my house (single pass at a brisk walk).

I am bag rate monthly from wake till labor day- then on to urea.

I'm dropping 1 bag a week on 2,500 sq ft. Grass looks great.

Ok - so setting 19 for you is no overlap ala the technique on the picture on the bag.
Good to know. I wasn't going crazy to split my 19 into setting ~9 to get overlap.
