I'm still using the guy but I'll be buying a trap so this is last timeericgautier wrote: ↑February 7th, 2017, 2:00 pmT, really sorry to hear man. Did you finally buy your own trap? Or you still using the same guy?
The possum in the trap is literally playing possum...that is until it started freaking out from the rain.
The good news is that the guy isn't charging me to take the possum so there is at least that

Threw down some seed today in the bare spots. Bare spots are from late fall when I did the first step of triangle approach. Snow is in the forecast so I'm hoping it will push the seed into the soil nicely.

Well that didn't take long, heard what I thought was the trap about a half hour ago and finally got up to look to find a raccoon already in it.
That makes number 4

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Got rid of some lingering snow/sleet and fluffed up grass in some areas along driveway and where I had overseeded...in prep for the big storm tomorrow so it can air out before being covered with a foot of snow.
Neighbor's December planted seed is germinating. So is some Novemver planted seed on a main road.
Soil temps were 37F in the front and 33 at the hell strip today. The Triv is growing slowly. So is the chickweed in the mulch. High was 54 today as like early Spring!
Picked up some sticks and litter too.
Hoping to do first mow March 1st again this year. We will see...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Started prep work for dormant seed before next snow in Virginia (or early early spring).
Raked up a ton of moss.
Filled in more low spots in the yard, re-angled gutter down spouts to reduce puddles, and built up/graded around the foundation to better direct water away from the house.
Cleaned up sticks.
Sprayed a bunch of undesirable growth in the driveway.

Did a lot last week.
Took the zero turn in to get it ready for spring. Moved a lot of turf chunks from beds and mulched areas to empty spots. Walked the lawn, noting areas that will need more seed or plugs moved in. Checked out the incoming tulip bulbs.
I'm so ready for spring! Get here!!!

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
In Central VA here this past Sunday it was sunny & 80°.
Took opportunity to clean out garage & storage shed - which we missed in the fall due to timing & weather - inclusive of blowing out dirt, debris, leaves & interior spraying of pest control (Bifen).
Also - removed leaves & debris from flower garden & beds AND did some tree & shrub trimming.
Finally - blew & raked some left over leaves & sticks that had was late comers to the fall cleanup cycle.
Started @ 10.30AM & finished @ 5PM.
Felt like I got an early start to spring prep. Thinking of laying down the mulch now that everything is cleaned up.
Expecting 70° again this weekend.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Moved chunks of my turf and soil from the street back to the lawn.... thanks snow plow!
This will take some work to fix and level out once the rest of the snow melts and I can assess the extent of damage. I'm thinking at least two sprinkler heads must have been hit, but could not find them.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Amazingly nice day out today so I decided to get some yard cleanup in. Cut down all of the ornamental grasses, blew out the beds which were filled with late leaves and decided why not get some gas and fire up the mower for a quick cleanup cut and bag.
I got a lot of looks and one head nod

Went outside today to clean up some branches and yard debris. I noticed a ton of acorns and empty shells. I never seen so many in my yard Crazy.... do I need to rake them up or just leave them to decompose?

You had what is called a "mast year".Went outside today to clean up some branches and yard debris. I noticed a ton of acorns and empty shells. I never seen so many in my yard Crazy.... do I need to rake them up or just leave them to decompose?
They can be left where they are, but some will sprout as little Oak trees. Repeated mowing will stop the seedlings.
The acorns don't decompose very quickly, either...

Milorganite on the renovation from last fall.
Busted out the hose and my brand new Nelson Raintrain to test it out. That thing is amazing ---- well worth the $65.00!!!
Noticed some winter weeds like chickweed growing so I pulled up some of the clusters. Next weekend I think I'll do a spot treatment.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Cleaned up the mulch beds from leaves. Fired up the mower, mulched all the leaves and mowed. The south facing side had areas of more than 1in of grow.
After looking at the weather forecast temperatures/rain and the grow in the backyard, I decided at the last minute to apply a split preM (dimension granular 0.25 ai/acre rate). It should rain on Tuesday to water it in without firing up the sprinkler system. I know I'm early.

Moved sod plugs out of my new formal rose garden into bare spots. Planted a boxwood hedge around the rose beds.
