I flipped 3 lbs of Scotts KBG seed in the dog yard to hopefully help fill in the bare spots this spring. I bought 25 lbs of Double Eagle to overseed that yard with in a month or so, as well. Don't expect much from the KBG in that yard but any blade of grass there is a win for me.

We were near a tornado yesterday! Pretty crazy.

Picked up a perfect set of deer antlers off the back lawn today. Gave them to my new neighbor as he seemed pretty excited about it, and I knew the wife would never let them inside the house anyway.

Worked on the lawn yesterday. Clean-up mowed at 2 inches. Cleaned up the gardens and mulched the detritus into the lawn after refilling the compost bins. Barricade applied at 0.75 lb/Acre rate. The expected rain didn't arrive, so not I have to decide whether to wait or open the irrigation.

Dug out a bunch of the pesky onion and filled the holes back in with a mix of peat. I have some garlic too but those suckers are deep. I read 2,4-D can work, so I'm going to try that.

Don't waste your time. Triclopyr works to some degree, or RU applied with a brush or gloves (and surfactant).

Finished raking and mowing side front, and raked and mowed main front (at 2.25 in) for the first time of the season. Not much dead stuff was cut off main front. Probably won't be doing any more mowing for several weeks; the back is nowhere near ready.

Raked the entire lawn, and took my first ever soil samples. :) Getting the final details of the lawn irrigation system being installed as well. Hopefully going to be a great year!

I am seeing green up throughout the lawn now and tulips popping up all over which will make mulching fun this year as I normally have it down before most start popping up

Thank you very much. This is my first soil test  and I'm a bit nervous about what the results will show.
The irrigation, I've been wanting to do for years but something always seemed to come up. This year I'm doing it! :yahoo:

Finished raking my yard today. Put down compost in the front lawn. Great thing about my area, they create their own compost and will deliver as much as you want. The prices are pretty cheap as well. :clapping:

Am preparing to spread moss killer around the edges, and am waiting for answers on another post asking if it's too early to apply Dimension.

Greening up quite nicely.

Picked up my mower from the dealer. Balanced all the tires, greased things up, we are ready to roll. Did some work on the old mower to get ready to sell in another month. Moved more plugs the other day.

Had all my lawn equipment serviced a couple of weeks ago, and going to pick it up today. Excited for another year of landscaping.

For all those that do not know, I do landscaping on the side (manage 16 yards weekly), and am in Corporate Correctional Healthcare for my day job. I have a passion for the outdoors, and have been doing landscaping since I was in 8th grade. I am now 26 with much better equipment, and absolutely love the start of the season! It is almost here!

I returned home from a mini vacation on Sunday night to a blooming forsythia bush in my yard. I put out Sunniland 0-0-7 Dithiopyr before the rain came on Tuesday. This has been a weird and warm winter here in the transition zone!

Gathered my soil samples and mailed them off to Logan Labs.

I will be mowing tonight and getting ready to hit some weeds that have sprouted. I'm looking forward to the upcoming season!

Today I managed to do the second mow of the season. I was not expecting this much grow with the cold days with had. There were sections with 1.5in of grow in two weeks.

I prepared a gallon of tenacity and spot sprayed some poa and other weeds in the no man's land area.

I ran out of daylight to do the soil sampling.

Changed the oil in the honda mower and sharpened the blades on the work-sharp. They shave paper at this point so overkill achieved. I also cleaned out the air filter. Put some fresh fuel in and surprisingly it started on the first pull, so I went ahead and mowed the front to just clean up the leaf litter and debris from over the winter. I then took a few soil temp measurements and found it to be around 49-50 degrees about 2 inches down.

Put some Tenacity in my 2 gallon spray can and walked around the front yard spot spraying weeds Yesterday. I had a decent amount of early spring weeds gaining traction where the fall KBG reno came in thin. Hoping the tenacity app takes care of that.
