Picked up sticks/twigs for almost an hour today after the crazy wind we had here yesterday.

This morning, watered side front zone for two 30-min intervals with 15 min soak in between the two start times.
Mowed front, side, and upper back at 3.75 in. I'll lower it in 4 days if needed when it gets cooler again. Grass is getting pretty stalky now and growth is slowing a bit from full flush speed I think. Good thing my blade is sharp.
Hand-trimmed near mailbox after mowing.

Put .5" water on the front yard after two 90+ degree days in a row. I felt like it was needed to ease into the hot weather.

Watered 1". Been 10 days with no good rain and it was 90 yesterday and today. Good chance for a thunderstorm starting tomorrow through Tuesday, and the temps should break back into mid 70's.

I got a cut in before it got dark. The lawn was pretty high and has really thickened up. I had to do multiple passes to mulch everything in. I definitely cut more than a 1/3, but it was only 5 days from the last cut. Urea and the milk app have really had an impact. Today was also over 90 in NJ which certainly had an effect as well. I also sprayed BLSC/KH

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Dropped SOP at 2lbs/k. Talked myself out of having Poa Trivialis and into having poa annua. That conclusion was made based on internet photos and the NCSU weed ID tool. Thanks TimmyG for putting up those links.
According to the Iowa State turf grass specialists poa annua has many biotypes. Some of mine is that classic bright green little bunch and some of it is dark green and spread outward really far. It has some purple on the stems as well.
It seems that the entire yard went to seed overnight. Looks like we will be bagging this weekend.

You may have seen this, but triclopyr mixed with Tenacity lessens, or my case completely eliminated, the bleaching effect of the Tenacity. I didn't even care about the bleaching, I just wanted the level 2 triclopyr weed-killing, but my KBG did not bleach at all. All the undesirables died too. I copied Zareth's formula from this post:kbgfarmer wrote: ↑May 17th, 2017, 3:13 pmMowed at 3 inches. 5 days after last mowing. Noticed lots of random grassy weeds popping up despite use of preemergent in late March. These included the usual suspects like the poa brothers and quack but also some new weird ones I can't really identify. Also calibrated my new lesco 4 gallon backpack sprayer at 58 gallons/acre or 1.33 gallons/k. Not many broadleaf weeds to speak of. Very little clover as well. Will do my first time ever blanket app of Tenacity at 5 oz/acre rate in two days over my 4 k backyard to get as many grassy weeds as I can per the triangle approach. Hope I don't end up bleaching my entire lawn.

Mailed in my soil samples to Logan's Lab... FINALLY. Tried to figure out if the seed-heads in my yard are poa anna or something else without success. I'll keep trying.

Spread 2 yards of mulch last night, trimmed and shaped my crabapple trees and lilacs. Bought a starter kit for more boxwood cuttings.

Darn. Tenacity already down. Thanks for the info. Will keep in mind in the future. Do you think if triclopyr applied tomorrow (2 days after tenacity) will lessen the bleaching or does it need to be applied concurrently?LeftField11 wrote: ↑May 19th, 2017, 7:32 amYou may have seen this, but triclopyr mixed with Tenacity lessens, or my case completely eliminated, the bleaching effect of the Tenacity. Hand watered hell strips ~1/4 inch and grass plugs in low-input area.
Mowed lower back and low-input area at 3.75 in.
Noticing some Poa annua in the low-input area and a little bit in the back. I think I'll pre-M the entire yard this Fall.

It just started raining so I finished in time. I mowed, dropped Milorganite and GrubEx on my 2016 reno. My soil samples arrived at Logan's Lab today so hoping to get my results back by the end of next week.

Planted tomatoes, cantaloupe, okra, beans, squash, zucchini in the garden. Mowed, trimmed, and blew off the carport.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Put down 6.5 lbs. of 12.5-24-10 on low-input area (0.125 lb/K of N); spreader setting of 7.5 on the Earthway budget special spreader. Put an additional 0.5 lb of Lesco 25-0-6 50/50 fast/slow release on the area planted last year, by hand (supposedly that was roughly another 1 lb/K of N or so for the new grass and since it's fine fescue and PR, I won't be doing any further extra apps).
Sprayed all sorts of weeds, including some Tenacity spot sprays on some weedy grasses in the front by hand with a spritz bottle that I didn't notice the last time.
Trimmed.
Neighbor who never cuts is doing his 2nd one.
