Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
With the urea late last fall, Scotts weed and feed 4 weeks ago, spring arriving early, and recent storms, my yard is DEEP GREEN. Gonna be fun to mow tomorrow if things dry out enough.
I don't see any dormant Bermuda - I know there's some still lurking, waiting to emerge in June, but it appears my selective treatment the past few years is paying off.
The KBG I planted last year is still "pouting" far behind the TTTF - it seems to take about a year before it starts to really go vertical.
My 40 fence hole repair spots are just starting to germinate about 10 days after I leveled them off with new topsoil and seeded. So far the results are disappointing. I've kept the seed damp without any significant washout issues, so I fear that using 2yo seed (a KBG/TTTF blend), or applying preemergent last month - even using a new layer of topsoil and compost top dressing - is going to hinder my results. I'll know more in another week.
Now I'm just looking for a milo sale to stock up for feeding through the rest of the year....

Finally had a chance to clean up the yard yesterday. The last of the snow finally melted. Gave the entire yard a raking mostly to clean up all the sticks and twigs. The Bewitched renovation made it through the winter with no issues at all. Overall it looks very good and green already. Also applied Dimension.

First cut of the year yesterday. Used the rotary to mulch up any yard debris from over winter. Had about 3/4" of growth from where I put it to sleep last winter.

Put down SOP and TSP. Also first time using BLSC and kelp. Winged the new hose end settings and put too much product down on the first pass. I guess I'll just skip that section next time.

Changed oil and sharpened blades on both mowers, lawn was high so decided to cut and bag before rolling entire lawn.
I'm gonna feel this tomorrow

Whew. Mulched my new rose / peony tree bed, planted about 100 annuals, pulled dead weeds, spot sprayed CCO on a few dandelions, clover, and leftover chickweed.

Mowed. Accidentally mowed over some growing hop bines.

Laid down 8 cubic yards of mulch.
Actually got the s.o. to help this year.
Took about 4.5 hours.
That was day 1. Gotta finish spreading it today.

Nice job! I somehow managed to convince my wife last year to help me spread 15 yards of mulch. She said "never again" after that. Still on the fence as to whether I'm going to attempt it by myself this year or just hire someone.RockinMyLawn wrote: ↑April 2nd, 2017, 10:12 amLaid down 8 cubic yards of mulch.

15 by yourself is like 2 days work IMO.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Removed my old lawn mower blades and installed the new ones on my hrx217. Used a razor blade and handle to scrape off all the caked on grass on the old blades and washed them with some soapy water. Also cleaned under my mower deck and in the shoot and blowed it all out with my toro leaf blower. Getting excited for the first now with the brand new blades. Grass has t really started vertical growth-hopefully soon.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Applied prodiamine this morning using a cheap backpack sprayer. Needless to say I will be upgrading to a battery powered Chapin in the future along with a Teejet nozzle.
I also noticed that my lawn is looking better than it ever has this early in the year. I credit the fall nitrogen regimen for that! So glad I found this site.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Moved the snow blower to the back of the shed and the mowers to the front. Gave the mowers a once over. Didn't get a chance to start them though.

Started the mower up and confirmed the thermowax fix was a success! I was a bit worried but it was easy.

Little late to the party but I finally got to use my Chapin 20v sprayer and it's just as good as others have said.
Hit the Annua patches and the areas where the township put soil after replacing curb and sidewalk last year as I have some other grassy weed growing there
Lawn is looking good otherwise

Spent several hours outside today. Collected my soil sample. Also cut and edged for the first time this year.
