Some more raking.
Been watering transplanted sod near mailbox every day that it doesn't rain.
Took in snow sticks.
Finally bought pre-M. Forsythia bloomed today.

It's embarrassing but I actually put the blades on backwards and mowed many years ago. It might not be possible on your mower, but check that.

Yep! I ran across this too when calling around about topdressing compost. One guy kept asking me if I meant mulch. Even at the largest lawn care supply company in town, the guy who's "been doing this for 30 years" was flabbergasted that I had a soil test and was buying urea, sop, and tsp in separate bags.Riverpilot wrote: ↑April 10th, 2017, 3:13 pmMowed on Friday for the first time this season. Grass was actually a bit longer than I thought it was.
Also called a few lawn services around the area to ask about pricing to spread compost for me. My neighbor and I are going in together on a topdresser, but I was curious what people charge to spread. Amazing how few lawn services even know what compost is. In fact, not only do they not know what compost is, they haven't a clue where to purchase it, even though the town I live in has their own compost facility.

Whoops, I meant this for the thread about the grass blades drying out. I'll do a cut today on the front and put some stripes down with sharp and properly installed mower blades.

OK so today I seeded the hill. Peat moss, Tenacity, and Tackifier. That tackifier was a pain to spray!

Mowed and edged for the second time of the year. This time the entire yard needed it.
I noticed a lot of dandelions bloomed in a short period all around my neighborhood. Found one in my heck strip too and annihilated it. Still like prodamine.

Guilted myself into a cut and bag after a long day of work so I can do same Thursday in order to put clippings out Friday.
The Annua seemed to really get annoyed after second Tenacity app Sunday as I had seed heads galour but noticed some def impact down low once cut.

I'd like to hear about the tackifier in detail...maybe in another thread!
Today, I hemmed and hawed, trying to figure out if it was going to rain tomorrow or not, to drop pre-M. It was near 80 degrees.
Picked up sticks and raked low-input area.
Put down one and done 0-0-7 pre-M/grub control on front, side, and low-input area at 3.5-3.6 lbs/K. (AI: 0.167% Dimension/0.067% Chlorantraniliprole. Did not apply to hell strips yet. Did not apply to back yet.
Did my once per year recovery edging on triganular hell strip.
Several neighbors mowed for the first time today.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Forsythia started to pop yesterday.
Only chance of showers for today and the rest of the week was predicted. (sigh)
At 11 am, radar map showed differently. Lots of "green" heading my way.
Ran out and dropped my Pre-M (Halts) in front yard and crossed my fingers.
Nice gentle and steady rain for over an hour.
The one time I'm glad the weather person got it wrong.
I'm a little happy.

Painted as much quack as I could with concentrated glyphosate mixed with ammonium sulfate and dish soap (couldn't find my nonionic surfactant) as well as water. How long before I can mow after glypho?

Hi kbgfarmer, can u share good source to buy glyphosate online? I have a bad quack infestation (front lawn) and thinking on starting painting. Also care to share the proportion in which u mixed Glypho + Ammonium sulfate + sop ? Many Thanks
Anyone else has luck sourcing Glyphosate online, please chime in.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Started watering in the pre-M on the front after the bit of rain today (1/16th inch or so) but only got so far.
Did some sod transplantation/exchange in various areas. Watered it.
Worked on border near mailbox.

Have you tried a local Home Depot or Lowes? You're not likely to do better price wise online (especially factoring in shipping) than just going to your local box store. Your profile says you are in NJ, so you probably have a box store within 10 miles (or less). (I have four within five miles of me).

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Turf toes is correct. Big box store is the way to go. I bought generic 41% straight glyphosate for 10 bucks from my local Menards but any store like it should have it. I copied hoosierlawngnomes mix from a previous thread. Use the search feature to find it but it was a couple of ounces of glyphosate, drop of dish soap, and a grape sized amount of ammonium sulfate mixed in about 8 oz of water. First time doing this so nothing was exact. Like I said a more detailed mix is available in another thread.Monroe22 wrote: ↑April 12th, 2017, 7:57 pm

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Rippled out one poa annua plant going to seed in my reno. The rest of the yard hasn't even fully woken up yet, but the annua is already going to seed. Wow.
Put down my grub-ex and spoon fed some synthetic N as well.
For glyphosate, Home Depot sells it in all kinds of sizes (I have a 2.5 gallon jug) and calls it: HDX grass and weed killer. Every store I've been to that sells lawn chemicals has some generic version of 41% glyphosate.

Dropped my first application of SOP. Neighbor came out to see what I was spreading.
Also put down more milorganite. Neighbor said he doesn't like the stuff because it smells, I told him to quit sniffing it then.

I applied Milorganite, which I use now instead of big box "4-step" stuff.

I noticed the first seedlings from my dormant seeding. There are more in some areas than others, but definitely had germination. Curious to see how it looks in a several weeks.STL wrote: ↑March 10th, 2017, 10:32 amSpread the left over seed that I have no use for in the backyard as a sort of unscientific, let's see what happens dormant seed experiment. After nearly 70 degrees yesterday, we're supposed to get a snowy mix this weekend.
Cut down two small trees last weekend.
