Eclipse today. Absolutely nothing noticeable...it was already cloudy/dark out beforehand. Maybe it got a tiny bit darker, but nothing really noticeable.

Hand-watered, and still using spray heads at 4 min x4 at 9AM, 10AM, 11AM, and 12PM.

Took delivery of new TTTF seed.

Dropped some more seed (Bullseye TTTF) on both overseed behind deck, and disturbed areas on side front and hell-strips. I don't see any germination whatsoever yet from the 5-year-old seed I had used over a week ago.
So, I started a germination test using a paper towel in a ziplock bag.

Also sprayed Holly bushes with insecticidal soap. Note: this time of year, you have to wait until it's dark out to spray any flowering plant, because if there are bees on it, you'll zap them.

Sunday - picked up 2x20lbs bag of Southern Belle with a nice mix of top rated cultivars for my area.
Excited to use it over labor day weekend since it's my first time ever using non-Home Depot or Lowe's bought seed.

Monday - lowered mower 1 whole inch from 4.5" to 3.5" in anticipation of overseeding in 2 weeks.
Didn't bag clippings & regretted it. Yard has mounds of clippings. Guess moving mower down in 1" increment was too big of a jump after last week's 2"+ of rain.

Will have to vac it up with mower tomorrow after work.

I roped off a few parts of the yard with damage and seeded and put down peat moss. These areas were damaged from the dog, being directly under large trees, a large dead spot from rinsing the spreader after a TSP application this spring, and damage from a large rubber mat that my sweet 5 year old put down under her swing so she didn't "hurt daddy's grass." Well it was 90° that day with full sun blazing on , we didn't know she did it until hours later.

I used bamboo skewers staked around the areas with neon plastic ribbon tied to the skewers. I think the dog has learned to stay off those areas. This was cheap, easy, and appears to be holding up well . It also outlines where to hand water.

Admired my backyard on day 9 (tttf with spf30 hbg)
Not bad for consistent 88-94 degrees.
Second picture is in full sun and a little behind. Whole yard washed a little in a storm.. Hoping for the best

Got some good rain and temps cooled off again. Picked up 4 yards of compost and two yards of top soil. Split a bunch of wood from a tree I took down as well.

Mowed lower back. Raked up some areas on main front and side front. Sprayed Tenacity on those areas at 4oz rate. Sprayed a few problem areas in low-input area. Syringed side front. Continued hand watering, etc.

Applied Milorganite at bag rate, and Triple Superphosphate at 2 lbs/1000 sq ft. My Reno test area experienced a little washout so I had to reseed and apply peat

Had to mow last night. Despite having made a recent PGR app the lawn grew 1.5" in the full sun areas in 4 days. Started Milo 3 weeks ago with 2 apps down so far at just under double bag rate. I'm thinking the combination of rain, great temps and the Milo over road the PGR.

It has been a very mild summer up here in the north woods.

After the lawn clippings overwhelmed my mower on Monday - had to vacuum & bag them all up with mower yesterday .
With cooler temps° forecasted for the latter part of this week & a thunderstorm to night - looks like my plan to lower the mower in anticipation of overseeding labor day weekend will require additional bagging.

Had a bunch of rain overnight for a few nights and the grass has been growing fast. Woke up to heavy dew today and a bunch of small patches of mycelium. The grass seemed to grow a couple of inches in the last few days, so I'm going to stick with the preventative plan and chalk it up to higher turf.

In the presence of my wife, I asked my son if he would be update for sitting by the fire pit tonight. My wife responded, "I don't know if it we can sit out there with the smell!". I think it was the Southern Ag Kelp help I put down with baby shampoo. However, it could be the Roots Bat Guano I watered in with the .5 lbs N of Milo. I don't think it is the .5 lbs. N of Lawn Restore II i put down with the rest of everything. I think it smells like progress, and everything seems to look greener already. :yahoo:
