Followed the soil remediation plan, dropped Milo and TSP. My 550 sq ft test area I seeded on August 12th was mowed. It's in the upper left hand area of this pic

Started the yearly edging project. As usual, recovered substantial chunks of sod with good roots that are reusable, from the main front side of the driveway.

Hand watered, including the new main front and side front overseed areas. So, seed down is technically today.
Before that, I added some more seed. I believe I'm around 7 lbs/K now. The TTTF varieties are Summer, No-net/Flame, Titanium 2 LS, Firecracker SLS, and Bullseye. Hoping I have enough seed to finish the other areas. I also added a tiny bit (5% or so) of Fiesta 4 TTPR seed because it's getting a bit late in the season and I want good coverage. About 0.75 lb over the 1.5-1.75K main front overseed area. Also added a tiny bit of Starter with Meso to both areas, equal to about the 1oz/A Tenacity rate. And added half rate of Tricure Granular to the side front overseed area.

Tomorrow, I need to add peat moss, figure out the irrigation situation for the front, maybe seed a few more small spots, finish edging, and get going with mowing (grass is getting a bit high).

4th floor - top floor, corner unit of most exposed building. A Category 4 storm will peel the roof like a can opener - the unit is 75 yds from the ocean and the first thing the wind hits since Cuba. Building was built in 1991, so pre-Andrew building codes, although attempts were made to supplement the roof quality. "Wilma" caused an overpressure situation in 2005 that popped a sheet of drywall and laid it on the couch with no other damage. That was at 75 mph.
I just saw a building fitting that description on The Weather Channel that had 4 floors, was white, with some decorative peaks. I looked at the corner unit. It could've been yours. As the reporters from CNN drive down streets in some areas and show the view, I'm like, "I know exactly where they are...I've driven on those streets, lived there in a past life, and this is crazy that these areas are going to get hit, and I hope the people that used to be close to me are going to be ok."

It may survive. As the cone has moved west, the expected wind speeds and direct surge are not catastrophic. It may have some serious damage but make it - we'll see.

Finished edging main front side of driveway. Got lots of sod from that; started fixing areas that were dead from herbicides. Watered seed. Mowed most of front and some of back.

Hand watered. Watered side front for like 40 min and measured output. Switched one nozzle.

Mowed upper back, including overseed area (2.75 in for that area). Bagged on the areas with the worst rust. Grass is rebounding from PGR; hoping that will help push it past the rust. I'm going to go very light on the next PGR app.

Patched a few areas. Put down peat moss on side front overseed area. Also on main front overseed area, but had to pick and choose which areas, as I didn't have enough for a full coating everywhere. 3.8 cubic feet covers about 0.3-0.5K fairly heavy (like 1.4-inch) it seems, so over 1.5-1.75K it did not cover entirely.

Got the irrigation situation semi figured out.

Dug out some gravel from a couple of areas and patched.

Tomorrow, I need to apply the PGR to the upper back, mow the low-input area, etc.

Day 17. Good varied tall fescue & hybrid bluegrass growth all over. The thin spots around the new house have new growth, just hard to see far away. Sides and back yard coming along well, the front looks like it's perking up now. Remnants of Irma rain forecasted for rest of this week.

In two weeks, I plan to cut the high growth with a string trimmer and put down a helping of Milorganite with a hand spreader.

Watered.

Sprayed (light...35% of normal rate and even lower) PGR app on upper back and grass between walkway stones. In places where the rust was really bad, I skipped it entirely.

Dropped what is most likely the last dose of urea before first-frost.

Looked at all the poa trivialis patches and wondered whether or not to take up a different hobby than lawn care.

Yes, it's a never ending battle with something trying to invade the lawn. One week you could be feeling really good about everything, and the next week you want to blow up the lawn and start over.

Stare at it long enough and it may turn into a bourbon habit. :good:

Hand pulled various weeds, regular mowing, light weekly urea, and still shopping for a good, used triplex.

As expected, I have germination on all overseed areas so far, except for the side front (which is not expected yet). Some areas actually germinated almost a week ago. On the main front, I noticed the first hint of Fiesta 4 TTPR germination today (after 5 days). And I gave my seed tray its first cut today.

Watered.

Transplanted a good number of grass plugs into back/low-input area border and a big dead/dormant spot in the low-input area. Added fertilizer (Milo plus starter with Meso) to the former, and hand-watered both areas. Still have more plugs left to use.

Trimmed in back.

Also put down another 4.5 lbs of Milo (6-2-0 this time) on the 1K upper back.

Trim mow, blow. I was planning on my first drop of urea, but it was too warm today (81*), so I opted for Milo instead.

Just had a landscaper complete a 170 sq ft paver addition to my patio today. They needed to dig a 12 inch perimeter for the base material so re-seeding was necessary. Of course I told them I would use my own seed and take care of the seeing. They looked at me weird.
