Mulched some leaves. Normally I'm done mulching (several years ago raking) thanksgiving. Last year was one week later. This year, right now, I'd say 50% of the leaves are still on the trees. Still getting grass top growth too.

Mowed/mulched leaves on the side at 3.25 in after the neighbor had their lawn cleared of leaves and mowed this afternoon.

Far part of low-input area still has ponding...from only 0.4-in of rain the other day.

Saturday: Mowed again @ 2.75".
Then sprayed Pre_M (Prodiamine).
Didn't trust rain forecast so I watered the Pre_M in for 30 mins each zone.

My youngest son and I were walking out of the house yesterday around 2pm, and a rafter (flock) of turkeys around a dozen birds was in the back yard. I had no idea that turkeys did free home delivery at Thanksgiving.

Andy, when do you plan to drop the winterizer?

Brought mower to be serviced. Got just under 0.4 inch of rain. Hoping it still rains when it's time to put down final winterizer in a week or two.

Walked the yard and surveyed the turf. It's firearm hunting season and my house is located in a several acre wooded area, so I have to wear a blaze orange vest when working outside, yup.

Moles are tunneling and the raccoons are digging holes, both looking for good eats. Noticed the majority of TTTF has disease looking symptoms, I thought stuff like that happens during hot/humid conditions and not cool/damp. The HBG/PRG look dark green and healthy. First year trying to get a good turf to start filling in and establish. Interesting to see how well different grass varieties perform. I'll probably mix in some fine fescue when I overseed next year.

Mowed about four rows and saw I had trimmed some turf, I’ll mow the entire law tomorrow.

Got mower back from service. Mowed upper back and mulched leaves, taking HOC down to 3.25 in.

Made a few passes on the front lawn at the same height I cut it last week and determined no discernible top growth had occurred. Lowered the cutting height to 2.75" and mowed it at the height I'll probably use going into winter (although I'm considering a further decrease to 2.25" in hopes of giving prospective snow mold less matted grass).

Need to determine whether or not to reduce the HOC still further so I know whether or not to put the mower away for the winter...

Good chance of rain coming up later this week. I'll probably winterize. BUT, we have a day of 60+ temps coming up after a string of 50s, so we'll see how much comes off when I mow! Doesn't look like it's done much out there right now.

I really wish that dad-gum bradford pear tree would drop it's leaves before I have to winterize! :x

I think I may have accidently posted this to the wrong thread earlier. Hopefully it will go to the right thread this time:

Today: Started hand-edging near front door, and transplanted the grass to the low-input area.

Grass is still growing slowly.

Cut the lawn today mostly to mulch leaves. Still a bit of top growth but very, very minimal. I’m thinking next weekend might be my last mow and time to drop winterizer but I’ll see if I actually cut any grass.

Yesterday, picked up a bunch of twigs/branches that the wind (really strong winds lately) blew off the willow tree next door. All trees are finally bare. Pounded stakes for the snow plow drivers along the street in front.

Settling in for winter.

I've been cleaning up/mulching new leaves that blow into my yard on a daily basis. My lazy neighbor refuses to mow his yard or pick up his leaves even though it's his tree (no leaves left on it). Gets annoying this time of year as I'm done for the season. I don't have any trees in my yard but seem to be cleaning up his debris on a daily basis until early January. Rant over. Anyone else have similar neighbors?

Got off the plane from TPA & went straight to the lawn @ 2PM to give it another cut.
Still some slight growth...
Rake all the elm leaves from our front road verges.
Was almost pitch black when I came in @ 5.45PM.

Weather is supposed to be nice (hi 50's & lo 60's) the next 7 out 8 days.
But the mid range forecast says a colder spell that should put an end to the cutting season will hit Central VA on ~ the 8th.

Debating if I should lay the Urea tomorrow & just put a period on this season tomorrow...

Lawndog. I've got the same type of neighbor. His frontyard is tree lined. He just blows his leaves into piles under the tress. Then all winter long they blow into my yard. I've told his to just blow them across the property line and I would take care of them. Just won't do it. :-(

Mowed and mulched leaves on low-input area. Took the HOC down to 3.25 in finally. 60 degrees today.

It's supposed to get cold in about a week and a half, and then stay that way probably through Christmas (we're talking daytime highs in the 30s and 40s. So, looks like the final winterizer will be going down sometime next week, which is pretty typical.
