Changed another sprinkler zone from popup sprays to MP rotators, they seem to get really good coverage in comparison. Also cut down a huge low hanging branch off my locust tree, was obstructing the view of my backyard from the deck

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Double dose of blsc/kh and mowed. I dug out and replaced the soil where the tree removal contractor drove his truck in the back yard. I had a random spot that was always squishy wet so I dug that up too. Turns out there was a no longer in use gutter line there, so dug up about 20 feet of that. Know idea why someone would think just burying a gutter is a good idea. It was filled with nasty black sludge.
Leveled two smallish spots in this fall's renovation area. I'm definitely going to have to rake more debris. There's a ton of old pine straw. Not looking forward to that.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Increased mowing height to 3.5 inches (highest I've ever mowed) and mowed at 615 pm in 88 degree weather. Thankfully my house shielded most of the sun in the backyard as the house faces west. Noticed that surface soil was very dry and cracked yet my grass is greenest in the neighborhood. I'm liking this deep and infrequent irrigation! Tons of quack still however sticking up over the good grass.

Irrigated for the first time this year after only getting 0.2" of rain in the past 10 days. Did the front yesterday and the back today.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Watered all my reseeded patches with water from my kid's kiddie pool. Decided to cut it this evening. Things have come in really nicely with the cool, wet weather we had. I think my new seedlings have got their roots down and the watering has helped since the warm weather began a few days ago.
I'm going to start watering if we don't get any rain in the next day or two. I'll have to balance out my sprinklers to figure out how to get 1" of water evening across the front yard.
Also, I've been trapping chipmunks as they are making all kinds of holes in my yard. I've put out traps but only caught two right off the bat. Now they're licking the traps clean, setting it off, but getting away somehow. Perhaps it's time for the five gallon bucket of death trap. They're really out of control.

Hand watered the hell strips and areas of the lawn by the sidewalk and driveway. It was 96 degrees today. Also gave the shrubs and flowers a good drink.

Irrigated my back lawn to 1 inch last night. Woke up this morning and even though showers were supposed to bypass us it rained another 1 inch in the span of 25 minutes just as irrigation ended like clockwork!!!! Ugh

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Pulled some bunch type grassy weeds. Made a few observations. Guy down the street with the awesome sod has brown sod. My grown from seed renovation is still green even with minimal water( talking driest June in 100 years dry). Must be something to a grown from seed lawn. The nomix looks pretty bad right now.
Second app of Certainty has killed some quack grass but not all. Maybe 40-50%.

Thank you KBG for the irrigation info.
Picked up 10lbs of KBG seed mix. The mix they used for the ball diamond at "Field of Dreams" & other places.
Decided to over-seed this fall to see how things look.
Will most likely do a renovation next year after getting the soil heading in the right direction.
Irrigated the lawn yesterday morning. Very hot and very dry conditions at the moment.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Watered side front to ~1/2 inch this AM.
Cut lower back and side at 3.75 in (but will probably drop back to 3.25 in a few days). Still having mower trouble.
Set irrigation to water main front and side to approx. 0.75 in, and upper back for what I believe is ~1 inch, for tomorrow AM. The whole program will take 4 hours (~1/2 inch per hour in most places).
Local lawn co. fertilized a couple of neighbors yards today.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
It actually rained today, which is unusual for June. I haven't mowed in a couple of weeks, so I did that once the grass dried.
It rained a couple of times in May, also, so I haven't had to water yet.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Hand watered area near back patio that tends to get drought stressed. Hand watered hellstrip and corners in front.
Started putting down 5.75 lbs/K of Sustane 8-2-4 on front and back for Spring N (~0.5 lb/K of N). Did the side and back tonight.
To-do list: finish fertilizer; spray Triv, Nimblewill, Ground Ivy, and Violets, and paint RU in front.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Mowed at 3" up from 2-1/2". Got a full inch of rain last night, best rain fall so far this year. Leaf Spot and BBDL are are on the way out and the lawn is finally looking decent to my eyes.

Mowed at 3.5 inches. 4 days since last cut. Was 88 and sunny while I mowed! Sweated like a pig.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Put down 0.5 lb/K of Sustane 8-2-4 on front (a bit more than that on front half of main front where I overseeded last year and where there's more Triv damage). I believe that's 0.825 lb/K of N so far this Spring on the front.
Sprayed Velocity: blanket spray on main front at 0.75oz rate on all Triv-invaded areas. Blanket spray on side at 3oz rate, and spot sprays on back and side front at 3oz rate.
Mowed low-input area at 3.75in.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Forgot to add: it's pretty dry out there. Rainfall is below average the past two weeks. My neighbor's soil in back is cracking in spots near our border.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Mowed at 3.75". Raised the HOC from 3.25" and only mowed once this week after the 90+ temps we've been having here. Rain is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, so hopefully we get some. We need it!
