Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Yesterday, I mowed and trimmed the front at 4" (full sun) and the back at 2.5". The Gator blade does a better job of standing up the grass at higher heights 3"+ than my Ninja blade (Snapper 21"), so I've been using it a couple of weeks now since the growth has slowed some, even though the Ninja mulches finer. Watered all four of my DIY irrigation zones last night and fell asleep during one zone (hence no post). Today, I ran the other 3 zones that needed more and did a lot of hand watering of plants and areas with little or no coverage. Hell strips still need more.
I noticed my hostas are about done blooming for the season.
I spread another light coat of Milo over the wear spots where the kids play soccer and they are recovering from the wear due to the last app two weeks ago.

^Bermuda looking good! It's really tempting me to use something like that outside someday when I own my own business (which is at least 10 years away, so it gives us more time to get further improvements on cold tolerance...as well as global warming making it easier to grow it up here...they're predicting the area I live in now will be zone 7A in 20 more years).
------------------------------------------
Today, mowed low-input area (except waterlogged quadrant). Washed off mower, then mowed part of main front near curb, which was really high. I think I broke the "1/1 rule" (which I just made up). Then, I sprayed the Triv. My sprayer finally quit during that...it stopped holding pressure. Switched to the back-up sprayer after taking 20 min trying to get it working and not getting anywhere.

3 lbs of blue grama seed arrived today. I'll plant it in bare spots this weekend (maybe 1/4 off my lawn).
As I stop watering, I'm hoping the grama and other natives will spread.

Had the driveway sealed so I had to cut early and trim back all the edges. Since I cut two days earlier than normal, it took off less but actually left a super smooth cut which was nice to see. Rain and temps look great for the next week so I'm hoping to get the alfalfa pellets down before my next cut

Finished mowing main front, upper back, and low-input area. Hand-watered hellstrips and corners.

Got up super early yesterday and sprayed tenacity on the variety of weeds that are trying to move into my yard from the neighbors. Also planted some KBG test pots in preparation for this fall.

Applied sumagreen turf to lawn and landscaping plants. Looks a lot like kelp help plus humates. The Suma product has fulvic acid as well as a bunch of bacteria and a "proprietary microbe blend".
It is expensive relative to kelp help that we make on the site, but it will last me awhile.

Temps cooled off recently and we're supposed to get rain tonight. Mowed, pulled some weeds, and put down a double dose of BLSC and KH.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Sprayed the back yard with serenade/natria because I noticed what I believe is some rust or leaf spot in several different spots. It developed over the last few days and is really the first time I've seen it on the grass blades. When I was out I noticed some of what looked to be the same thing in several neighbors lawns. It's been very rainy this year and I think that has something to do with it. Hopefully the natria helps. I'll probably do another app in a week or so if I feel it needs it.

Are you doing the Proactive Biofungicide regimen, or is this a shot-in-the-dark curative try?

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
To be honest it is a shot in the dark try. I bought the natria to do the Biofungicide regimen on the front yard this year as I've had some fairly bad fungal issues in one area the previous 3 years. I wanted to give it a try on the front to see if it would help this year before I did my reno. It actually worked great. The previous 3 years it was a guarantee the fungas would turn the lawn brown in a large area. This year with the natria the hole lawn stayed fully green and there were no traces of fungas. I was really blown away at how well it worked. I've never seen anything that looked like fungas in the back so I didn't feel it was necessary to spray. After I saw the back start to develop yellow/brown spots on the grass blades I though it wouldn't hurt to give it a spray with the natria and see if it helped. Maybe it's too late to help but I figured it was worth a try.

Took advantage of the cool, cloudy day in the mid seventies and raked up the reno area. There was a lot of old pine straw that had to go. Got my workout in for the weekend!

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Mowed lower back, sprayed Hydretain on third part of low-input area, and watered it lightly by hand.
Put down 2 lbs/K of Greens grade SOP on side front and hellstrips.
Hoping for measureable rain to water everything in.

Cut @ 3.5" and a very light application of propicanizole last night. Fungus has been the worst this year.
