He understands his extension service correctly. Also, I recall the subject came up before a few years a go. The objective in late fall care is storage, but the major concern is dormancy. If the grass never goes dormant, there is little opportunity for carbohydrate storage. If temps allow there's still active growth through winter, then there's no reason not to fertilize a winter lawn - because it isn't dormant, is still growing, and still photosynthesizing. If you are anyone cares to though, let him know the fertilizer he's thinking about is not a good idea. Maybe just kinda make sure he understands a 3-1-2 or 4-1-2 analysis.
