another mowing height question
well guys i finally did it i bought a new toro super recycler to replace my honda hrx 217. My question is the new mower goes from 3.25 to 4.25 and no in between settling. My question is should i stick with the 3.25 or go up to 4.25. I just wondering if at the 4.25in if the grass will start to lay over and not straight up. Whats your thoughts? Thanks

Re: another mowing height question
That's quite the jump. Higher has a better chance of flopping. What it does to your grass will really depend on your grass though. I'd do 3.25, at least for now. Might bump it up in the summer though. 4 is the highest I recall reading people mow on this board.

Hmm. Is it model 20381? Check page 15 of the manual.

Re: another mowing height question
I suspect a misprint. F should be 3.75". I would call Toro to confirm. 4.25 seems way too high for this time of year.

I'm almost positive F is 3.75".

Re: another mowing height question
Just checked my manual. It shows F = 10 cm (3-3/4 inches).

The online manual is different. The best way to be sure is to grab a ruler and measure it.

I have the super recycler. The deck goes up in 1/2 inch increments best I can tell. I've always just considered that a typo

Re: another mowing height question
If that was correct and not a misprint, stay at 3.25 for now. I have TTTF and this time of year I keep it at 3.5 because 4 is just a tad too long and not needed when temps are lower like they are right now.

Re: another mowing height question
Yeah, why would the last two settings be the same height. That makes no sense.

Thanks for the info everyone. I may call toro and double check. But I will consider f to be 3.75 inches

Re: another mowing height question
Have you had a chance to mow with the 20381 yet? I am considering replacing my HRR with one.

Thanks double-e5!
My two local dealers strongly push Honda over Toro, including my preferred dealer who has an SR4 on display tagged as the 20381. That is giving me pause.

Re: another mowing height question
How is the vacuum on the deck compared to the HRR?
I have an HRX and there is essentially 0 vacuum so it doesn't stand grass up to be cut.
I was looking at Super Recyclers for possible replacements.

Re: another mowing height question
so far very happy with the new mower. Wheels tracks are not that big of a problem any more and it seems to have a better cut as well and actually has some suction under the deck as well
