what are these patches of discolored grass?

problem:

i have 3 incongruous patches of grass on my lawn, just like the one pictured above, they suddenly appeared:

observations:

the patch is much darker green.
the blades of that grass appear wispy/straw-like.
the blades seem consistent in color, with no visible dots or discoloration.
the crowns don't seem blackened or slimy.
there is a ton of dead grass at the crown that hasn't decomposed yet. also my mower does a poor job of mulching.
i looked for liguiles and auricles to see if i could tell whether the grass is a fescue type (skinny) but i can't tell droughty kbg apart from fine fescue from the descriptions on turfid.

blade from light green surrounding grass:

blade from patchy area, with healthy blade in background for comparison:

outside information:

fertilize .5#/K of milo every week.
i apply companion every 3 weeks.
i apply serenade every 3 weeks. i missed the last serenade application.
the patchy area is watered once a week deeply
the patchy area is watered 5x a week shallow, to fallowing the adjacent grass on same zone, it is watered 3x a day for 5 minutes. (30 minutes yields 1/2 of water).
the other parts of the lawn that have these same patches are only watered once a week deeply.
the mowing height is 3inches, done once a week. seems that i'm not violating the 1/3 rule yet, but getting close in some areas.
these patches happened about a month ago, when i reduced the mowing height from 4" to 3". i got scared and hit them with heritage but we also got a week's worth of rain during and following the fungicide application.

thanks in advance

Just a quick guess but at first glance that looks like drought/heat stress. Looking at the (footprints?) and greyish hue gave me that judgment. Bad soil/debris in that area - or has it looked bad/different in the past?

Fusebox beat me to the punch. I, too, immediately jump to drought/heat stress when I see your pic. If it has been exceeding hot, sometimes no amount of water seems to pull KBG out of heat stress. You've just gotta wait it out. Or, at least, that's been my experience with my NoMix well north of you.
