huge dead patches all over front yard
I'm really upset right now, extremely upset. I'm not really sure what's going on my lawn. My lawn has so many big dead patches about 30 inches in diameter. Some are linear like 6 ft by 1 ft. I'm not sure if someone is spraying grass killer on my lawn since I've been out always and also I get home very late. My neighbors' lawn on left, right and in front doesn't have these issues. My neighbor in front of me doesn't even water her lawn. I feel like mounting a camera to see if someone is doing something. If it's grub, I haven't seen japanese beetle since 2011. What should I do? I was so upset that after I was done mowing, I was flipping things in my garage. Sigh!

Did you dig up some of the sod and check for grubs? I would confirm it is not grubs. This happened to me last year and I spent 3 weeks saying "i don't have grubs" and was treating it as summer stress. It was grubs. I wish I had checked sooner. It is very possible it is not grubs, but I would rule it out.

I didn't get a chance to dig it. I'll do it tomorrow once I get home.

Re: huge dead patches all over front yard
Are there any lesions on the grass blades? I'd hazard a guess to Necrotic Ring Spot.

Looks like Summer Patch to me. I would apply some Propiconazole 14.3 fungicide.

Grubs, frequent stops by neighborhood dogs, or a disease. Check for grubs first. You probably know if dogs pee there a lot or not.

Re: huge dead patches all over front yard
Dig up some yellow spots and inspect the roots while you're looking for grubs. A black sludge and decaying roots can indicate a root born fungus like summer patch.
