Party damage recovery thread...
My wife and I celebrated our 50th birthdays this past Sunday and had about 100 people in our shady backyard that was quite wet from a recent storm.
Hopefully it will recover, I raked it out and hand spread urea immediately after the guests left.
If I don't get some recovery in 2-3 weeks I may re-seed.

Congratulations to you and your wife!
It honestly doesn't look that bad. Most of the grass will recover. I see a few gouges. Pots/plugs may work better than seeding and babying the patches while having to mow in close proximity. You'll know more in a few days as it dries out.

I guess for me, I would try to figure out if reseeding outweighs getting a pre emergent down. Not sure if you were planning on a pre emergent for grassy type weeds. From the pictures, it looks like most of the damage will be eliminated with an aggressive fall fertilizer program. I just applied Barricade to my Bewitched monostand and plan to apply again mid September.

Congrats on the milestone!
You have fall coming up, so I'd hope it takes off when temps break and it naturally responds. Have you thought about aerating to relieve any compaction?

This soil is very, very good. There is no meaningful compaction. If I had decent sun I know it would recover quickly, the issue is the shade.

Re: Party damage recovery thread...
I reseeded it today and filled in some depressed area with a few buckets of loam. Will try to remember to post some pics tomorrow (finished around 9:30). I also experimented with seeding some of the larger pee spots from my dog rather than just top dressing with compost. I'm not going to do any special watering cycles on them, more of an experiment. My pre-M went down on 4/8 with about 90-110 days of coverage, so I'm pretty sure I should i'll be ok. My second pre-M will probably go down sometime next week, I'll just skip these areas.

I thought it was SUPPOSED to downpour after you seed. That's how it works at my house....jglongisland wrote: ↑August 15th, 2017, 10:32 amSome pix; we had a huge dowpour last night which is par for the course for anyone who has ever seeded.
