Hogan's grass seed
Doing a small renovation next week. I spoke to a gentleman at Hogan's. we thought the Hogans blend with 10% KBG might be a good option for this area of my yard.
It's a low input area in the back so not looking for elite cultivators.
Anyone use this blend? If so how do you like it?

No personal experience with the "Hogan Blend", but knowing them, and if it's what I think it is, it's probably elite cultivars.

Thanks Green, I feel a lot better about the seed now. Going to do the back in sections. Don't have enough sprinklers n timers to do entire yard.

^Agreed. Great seed; been buying from them for years. Very friendly people too. Bob, the owner, seems to love talking about growing grass and telling interesting stories, and has personal interest in making sure every customer's seeding project succeeds. Steven (Stephen?), who I believe is the son-in-law, is also very helpful and friendly, if generally all business, and seems to be super precise over the phone.

Yes same experience here. Bob was very friendly, in fact I'm pretty sure he said he was on his cell driving home. He took my order and took the time to answer my questions.
I look forward to the outcome of the renovation. And plan on purchasing seed again in the future. I know I'm jumping the gun but sounds like good cultivators, he said it should workout great for my soil condition and direct afternoon sunlight.
Wish I could do an entire renovation instead of just a section but since I don't have a sprinkler system and the irregular shape of my yard I think it's best.

Re: Hogan's grass seed
There are two Hogan blends this year. The only difference is bullseye Vs paramount (new).
I seeded it last week with hybrid bluegrass. Germination at day 4 in shade, widespread at day 6. Sunniest areas a little behind, as always. 90-92 degrees hasn't helped..
I'll take a pic of the label if I can remember.

Re: Hogan's grass seed
I'll be using it in about a week. I ordered the Hogan Blend plus 10% kbg. It has Firewall, Cochise IV, Bullseye, LS 1200, Houndog 8, and NuGlade. I ordered 100 lbs a few months back.
There's a thread where a member called Othertime used it. The lawn was beautiful. Edenl01 shared the link with me when I asked about Hogan's Blend.

I'm very anxious to get seed down!

Re: Hogan's grass seed
I wonder if they blend it for the area of the customer. Seems like most everyone's is similar but a little different. I guess it could also depend on how much of which seed they have in stock or shortages of seed.
