Looks like tonight and tomorrow night it hits for much of the Twin Cities, central and southern Minnesota.

And the Pause begins ....

Is this ahead of the average first frost date for your area?

On Dave's Garden Freeze/Frost Date web page, St. Paul, MN shows an "average first frost" (50% likelihood of "Fall 32") as being Oct 5, so it's actually about 5 days later than the average...

Interesting fact: The first frost date on the north east side of Indy is a week earlier than where I live on the southeast side, maybe 20 miles away.

Typically Oct. 6th for my little area.

My zip code displays as St. Paul. As I understand it, much/most Twin Cities is displayed as either St. Paul or Minneapolis, depending on where your zip code's mail is routed: Minneapolis and west 'burbs are Minneapolis and St. Paul and east are St. Paul.

So, I am actually at least two suburbs out from St. Paul (actually closer to Wisconsin than St. Paul) but still show up as St. Paul on this forum, for my orders from Amazon, etc. ... anything using the U.S. Zip Code system to complete location data (my old house was a second-ring 'burb in yet a different direction from St. Paul, but still showed as St. Paul).

It’s already been slowing. Only have 3 mowings left I bet.

Yeah, it is slowing down.

Dropped the deck two mowings ago (sad day when I gave in and bought a power mower) and mowed again yesterday (Sunday and blew out the irrigation system. The irrigation system ran maybe five times since early July and at least one of those was to water in something.

It has been a very wet October on top of a very wet 12 months here (at the end of August, Minnesota had marked the wettest 12-month period on record ... not sure if September continued it). Now a march into the 70s this week.

We didnt get frost down here outside of Rochester untill sunday night. And im not sure if I would even call it first frost or not. It has certainly been a warm fall. My lawn hasn't slowed down quite yet. And I do need to get the sprinklers blown out soon. Hoping this weekend.

Well, I haven't seen much in the way of growth where I'm at (St. Louis Park), so I went ahead and put down 1#/k of nitrogen along with my monthly 1#/k of potash. Where are the rest of you at in terms of your fall regimen?

Mowed last on Sunday the 22nd and had decent growth, but have not been able to cut since (does not look like it has grown much, through).

Average first frost date for my neighborhood is October 6th. In anticipation, I dropped final fall N and other stuff at the end of September and went into The Pause. Actual first frost date came a few days late this year.

Will mow sometime this week. Just waiting for top growth to end and will then drop Urea and call it a year.
