Accidental Scalp WWYD

Post by JohnP » November 28th, 2017, 10:02 am

I mulch mowed the other day out front. One side went perfectly fine. No issues.

I got to the other side and it was the difference between using the vacuum on hardwood vs a rug. It took me a few passes to notice that my front wheel axle had busted and my Ego lawn mower was now an Ego race car, scalping the lawn.

The grass is done growing for the season. I was going to throw down Urea this week.

Seeing as how I probably just removed an inch or two from a section at this point in the season is there anything I should plan for special come spring in that area? I’m guessing it will be fine but I wanted to ask people smarter than me what they’d do.

Most KBG can be mowed at an inch, some less, so It will probably be fine come spring. Some of us take a little extra off that last mow on purpose :) Winterize as normal, pick it up in the spring.

Thanks HLG! I figured I’d be fine.

Guess it will be a good test. One side is shorter than the other for winter.
