2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

My yard is small with only 2 medium size trees. I have a lawn service this year. I will not use them next year, so I'm slowly acquiring my own lawn care equipment. I got the Black n Decker blower/vacuum that also mulches leaves. I will go look for other piles of leaves in the neighborhood, collect those in the bag and dump on my lawn.

I went out to cut today, thinking I may pick up a few strays and some minimal growth since the last cut, 8 days ago. We've had 15 straight days where the H/L average was below 50, including 3 nights down to 28. But my handy steel rule showed 1/2" growth and I collected almost 1/2 of what I typically have been collecting on a 4-5 day cut cycle. So still growing at about 25% the rate of peak fall growth.

I guess the plan for a final Urea drop tomorrow before the rain is out. Good news is that the Millorg I put down 3 weeks ago may still be consumed/used before it gets too cold.

Next rain isn't forecast until next mid-next week, so I'll repeat the cycle a week from now.

More of the same here. Trimmed and mulch mowed. The maple near my yard is dropping leaves at a steady rate today.squirrels are wreaking havoc...found 12 new dug up spots this morning.

Mulch mowed the lawn and leaves. Trimmed elderberry bushes. Should be applying winterizer Thursday or Friday.

Raised HOC back up to 3" from 2.5" with the hopes of getting more sunlight to the leaf blades, since overseed has caught up to the existing lawn. Mulched leaves front and back. Not many are down yet. We're still about a week behind from the early fall 'heatwave' so to speak.

One of the trees in my neighbor's yard has now dumped almost all of its leaves. It's almost 100% bare, and the leaves are now under it in mass number. Only tree like that. Just a few days ago, it still had at least half its leaves...likely more.

Blew the pine needles off the roof and cleaned the rain gutters...dialed in the storage shed.

I raked my neighbors leaf pile out of the street, scattered it on my lawn, and mulched them.

Changed oil on the mower (overdue), sharpened the blade and mulched the front and back like crazy, after the high winds brought down a lot of leaves. Threw the bag on afterwards, and went over the front to suck up some stray leaves for a "clean" look, and save a little for my vegetable garden. It was 1/2 bag, as opposed to the equivalent of 5-10 bags I mulched into the lawn.

Disaster Day!! All was fine, went to "old electronics dump day" and came home to a house 30 minutes later that had crazy electrical issues. Lights flickering on and off, no wifi, half of the electrical service out, half on. Turned out that half of the 200-amp service was at 120 volts and half was 28 volts. Electric company refused to believe it, but got here 6 hrs later and said "yup, it's electric company's issue". Still not fixed, but rearranged breakers in main panel to get the critical items in the house working. Never got to the lawn.

Sounds like you have a lot of mulching to do tomorrow. Your soil temps should be relatively warm enough to get the microherd to digest them. I pulverized them today, hoping they would get gobbled up, pronto!

I mowed. First time in several months. That's one of the advantages of a mostly naive lawn that I never fertilize and rarely water.

Masbustelo I have a neighbor down the street from me, who after dark every night, blows his leaves in the street.
He then blows them away from his curbing and leaves them there.
When I go for my early morning walk with my neighbor,
we have to constantly clear the 2 drains his leaves eventually plug up.

Between the wind and the rain yesterday, my backyard maple tree dropped its remaining leaves.
For the most part, so did my japanese red maple and dogwood trees.
I actually took a picture of both of them the other day to show how they were holding their leaves.
With the high wind yesterday, they didn't stand a chance!
Usually they are the last to drop, kind of like Oak trees.

Speaking of oak trees, as usual a lot of my neighbor's oak leaves end up in my front yard,
as does the maple leaves from other neighborhood trees.

Once the sun came out about 3 pm, I fired up my riding mower/mulcher and went to town on both front and back.
Even a little wet, they mulched well.
The back is pretty well done.
The front, the oak trees still have a lot of leaves to drop.

In a few days I will take out my push lawnmower with the bagger on and see if there are any "grass" blades in there.
My avg frost date was Sept. 28. The actual 1st light frost happened Oct. 14.
Have only had a couple of "heavy" frost mornings since.

andy Hope your electrical issues are resolved. Better now then in the dead of winter.

That looks awesome! A striping kit is definitely on my to do list for this winter.

By the way, your rainbow photo in the other thread is absolutely amazing. I'm not sure how people sell and make money off of pictures but that one would definitely sell.
