Went to Sullivan County, NY today to visit family, and there was still a bit of snow on the lawn; they must have gotten some fairly recently. The roads were also entirely coated with that spray-on salt. First time there...did not realize how close to PA we were. The lawns in that area were so old...from the 70s and before.

Finished picking up the last few leaves, etc. Winterized aunt and uncle's front lawn in Zone 7a.

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
The snow melted off, so I dropped the deck on my mower to mulch the last of the leaves in. My plan was to mow lower so I could see where I mowed and also to increase the odds that I'd pick up more leaves.
Unfortunately, with the lower deck, I hit the remaining stump of the tree that blew down a couple of years ago, and after that, the mower was a doorstop.
So I grabbed the blue grama seeds from the freezer and strewed them in the bare spots. I also strewed them lightly throughout the lawn. I don't know whether I'll get much germination, but any that I get is a bonus. I'm hoping that eventually I'll have enough native grass that I'll be able to stop watering altogether instead of watering once a month (the grass seed costs more than the water, but it's the principle).

I walked on it a little to pick a few sticks off of it and fill up the bird feeder. I enjoyed seeing a little greenup and recovery from a late season fungal outbreak, since the recent cold spell we had. I wish all a healthy, happy, holiday season. Happy New Year and best wishes for 2019!

Got out yesterday and did a cleanup mow of the yard yesterday. Also mulched around the mailbox with a leftover bag of mulch. It felt good to get out and do something after sitting on the couch for a month or so. Winterizer went down about 2 weeks ago.
