It's supposed to drop below freezing in the next day or two, so i picked any tomatoes and peppers that looked like they could ripen.
I also picked my blackberry (first year, so I got a single berry from 4 plants).

Weekly fall nitrogen application completed. I know my neighbors are thinking “now what in the hell is he dropping on his lawn now?”
I mowed with the striping kit earlier today. Rain is due here soon and I had all of my urea measured out in containers around the yard. That way I could spread, refill and repeat without any long stops.

Mulched a bunch of leaves that came down with recent gusty winds and rain. It was still a bit wet, but with more rain coming tomorrow I pulled the trigger. The last round of mulching seems to have been gobbled up already. Picked a bit of poa annua I had overlooked/ not ID'd.

Cut to 3" ... mulched up a bunch of leaves and grass for the microherd. Getting ready for the pause.

I mowed yesterday to cut the grass, and then mowed again today to mulch the leaves that fell in 40 mph winds yesterday afternoon.

Picked up a 100 lb spreader with metal gears for $10 at a garage sale. Needs a little work but is much better than the one I had.

Mowed, probably for the last time this season. Been six days since last mow and cut at most a quarter inch. I’ll throw the bag on Saturday and see if it’s still growing. My guess is I’ll be winterizing Sunday.

I mowed and just now finished up. I have several Tenacity bleached spots, especially in the back. Rain is expected all weekend so I wanted to trim it tonight, and then I plan on mowing on Halloween afternoon.

Mowed grandfather's lawn after taking down barrier tape on newly planted areas in the front.
Mowed front, upper back, and far end of low-input area at home after, and took the HOC in those areas down to 3.25 in. All areas are now at 3.25 in or lower.

Got the lawns (and OMG the leaves) mowed and mulched before the Nor'easter lowers the boom on us. As ready as possible and reasonable...

Mowed and mulched leaves at 3". Most of the big hardwoods are still holding leaves in my area. I'm guessing by next weekend we'll get a big drop.

Threw out the last of my used coffee ground stash for the season. Now I'll start stockpiling over winter to apply in the spring.

Not to get too into it... but how come you stockpile over winter rather than just throw it out on the lawn over winter? I'm guessing it will just sit on the lawn till spring?HoosierLawnGnome wrote: ↑October 29th, 2018, 8:38 amThrew out the last of my used coffee ground stash for the season. Mowed/mulched. Grass growing is definitely slowing down.

Purchased a mulcher this past weekend.
Waited for the fallen leaves to dry a little and mulched them for the first time. Ready to add OM back into the soil.
