I picked up two 50# bags yesterday, enough to finish off the season, for $26 bucks ($13 each).

I found a 50-lb bag hidden in the barn yesterday. It felt like it was free Urea. Inventory is currently 290 lbs.

Re: What are you paying for Urea this year?
I picked up an extra 50lb of urea from Maxwells turf supply last week for $22.50. It was a funny bag that actually has a “vent”. We taped it up so product wouldn’t spill out accidentally. First time maxwells and I have ever seen that on a bag of fert.
They also had a generic version of tenacity that I haven’t seen before for about $50. I might give that a try once my current bottle runs dry.

Re: What are you paying for Urea this year?
I called my local Seed and Feed store that I normally get Urea and asked for a quote for a 50lb bag. The guy asked how I was using it and I replied pretty much weekly applications for yard. He said he'd save my yard from me and wouldn't sell it to me. He said the 0-0-40 or 0-40-0 product was needed (i don't remember exactly, I was too blow away). Can't believe he wouldn't even quote it to me.
Found another place and got 2x50lbs at ~$19 a piece. Great customer service also so I'll be heading back there.

That is shocking -- especially since you've been using it in past years and are still interested in doing so!JHazzardB wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2018, 11:17 amI called my local Seed and Feed store that I normally get Urea and asked for a quote for a 50lb bag. Fifty pound bags for $12.00 here in PA right now. I stocked with 150 pounds as I'll be using this in October and November (I torched my knee).

Re: What are you paying for Urea this year?
Wow can't believe they flat out wouldn't sell. When I got the bag last year at Eckroat, they asked what I was going to use it for and I told them it was for fescue and they said something to the effect of "well, I wouldn't do that, it'll burn fescue right up!".
Where'd you find it for $19?

Re: What are you paying for Urea this year?
That's a good price from All Pro! They sold 50lbs to me for $21.67 including tax. You must have gotten contractor pricing.
I haven't opened my bag yet, but there was an opened one in the warehouse and the prills looked much smaller than my bag from LI Cauliflower Association. Hopefully that means it will flow through the spreader more smoothly and spread across the lawn more evenly.

Re: What are you paying for Urea this year?
Yikes, well seems I win the prize for highest price paid. Based on the advice of this site I went in search of urea for the first time to use as my winterize this year. A quick google search revealed a sod and lawncare supply business 5 minutes from work that showed 46-0-0 urea in stock. Bingo. Based on the storefront or general lack thereof, I assume they generally provide to landscaping contractors. Anyhow, I get there, tell a guy what I'm looking for, he says sure let me ring you up, and sends one of his guys to fetch me a 50 lb bag. Punches a few buttons in, asks if I have a customer account, nope first time here, and finally, "Okay, that will be $34.50 plus tax". Gulp. I was definitely surprised after reading what you all are paying, but at that point that was that. Lesson learned. Fortunately I was only buying one bag.
In retrospect, I'm sure I was paying full "retail" price whereas their regulars presumably get a much nicer contractor rate. And I know Andy has recommended finding a local farmers co-op but I didn't locate one near me (north side of Columbus, Oh). For one bag, I wasn't going to drive an hour roundtrip out of the way, but in the future, I'll have to find someplace more reasonable as I'm sure they exist.
