Calculating Cost for Aggressive Fall Nitrogen Regimen
I've been asked numerous times for my "formula" for calculating the cost of the Aggressive Fall Nitrogen Regimen for a season, but for some reason I've never gotten it done.
Here's the formula in narrative steps:
(1) Get the cost/lb of Urea in your area. If you don't know it, use $0.30 per lb
(2) Get your square footage in 1000's of sq ft. For instance, 2,500 sq ft is 2.5
(3) Determine how many weeks you will do the "Early Fall" part. If this is your first time, use 7 (weeks)
(4) Multiply (Urea cost/lb) * (K sq ft) * (duration in weeks) - that's "SubtotalMain"
(5) Multiply (Urea cost/lb) * (K sq ft) * (2) to determine "WinterizerSubtotal"
(6) Add "SubtotalMain" and "WinterizerSubtotal" to get the full seasonal cost
Here's a couple of examples:
5,000 Square Feet
(1) $0.30
(2) 5
(3) 7
(4) 0.30 * 5 * 7 = $10.50
(5) 0.30 * 5 * 2 = $3.00
(6) 10.50 + 3.00 = $13.50
10,000 Square Feet
(1) $0.30
(2) 10
(3) 7
(4) 0.30 * 10 * 7 = $21.00
(5) 0.30 * 10 * 2 = $6.00
(6) $21.00 + 6.00 = $27.00
So, a 5,000 sq ft lawn takes $13.50 to do a 7-week program, and Winterizer app and a 10,000 sq ft lawn takes $27.00 to do a 7-week program, and Winterizer app.

Yup! Lots of people are pleasantly surprised by the relatively low cost of the full Fall program.

Waking this thread up for the 2020 Fall Season - if there is one inexpensive regimen in the whole year that impacts the Spring 2021 lawn quality and gives you a head-start, this is it.

Re: Calculating Cost for Aggressive Fall Nitrogen Regimen
Got my 1st urea app down and watered in Friday night before the storm we never got, but thats another story. :-)
But I already notice the lawn perking up today when I cut it.
Lawn made it through this summer much better this year than last year, can't wait to see how the weekly Urea apps works when the lawn isn't wiped out from the summer. All my weekly apps are all weighed out and ready to go. :-)
