Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
If you're doing the Fall Nitrogen Regimens, where are you now -- still in the early/middle Fall apps, or in The Pause, or done with the final ("winterizing") application?

Plan to drop the 3rd application today. Maybe get one more in before going to the pause. Timelines were tight this year due to waiting for KBG to finish sprout n' pout along with an abnormally high amount of overcast weather.

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
I made my last regular application two weeks ago, it's 53 here today, not much pause. It's supposed to be cold this week but the following week mid 50's.

In the pause phase. Last urea app was October 4th. Grass still growing, with snow chances coming this week.

The Pause. Last app of N was 10/4. Mowed yesterday (8 days after previous cut) and cut 0.5".

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
Solidly in the Pause here. Our "average first frost" is September 26th, but after doing this for four years now, I'm pretty sure to expect top growth to stop in mid-November. Our last fertilizer application was on October 5th, which is earlier than I usually stop, but I'd been hitting the fertilizer pretty hard for the month before that.
Mowed the lawn today to mulch up leaves. We're now past the leaf peak - most of the big trees are pretty much done except for the big oaks, which make up about a third of the trees in and around our lawn.
Grass growth has slowed a lot, but is still definitely non-zero - maybe about 0.5" or 0.75" in about a week since the prior mowing. New grass areas (seeded this fall) are starting to lose some color. Established lawn areas seem to be the darkest green they've been all year.
Given prior year's history, we're probably about two weeks away from top growth ceasing for the fall.

In the pause here in central Ohio. I’ve got my nitrogen on hand ready for my final application. Top growth has slowed but I’m still weeks away from stoppage.

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
In the pause for about two weeks now. Having trouble keeping up with the mowing due to leaf drop and frequent rain. This is the wettest pause I've ever experienced. On the positive side, it seems to be helping the leaves break down faster than when it's dry. Color is holding really well since my one and only 1 lb/K standard regimen fertilizer drop of a fast/slow/organic/synthetic mix (Screamin' Green 16-2-3) on October 1st, which was a week later than my target date, but still seems to be working pretty well.

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
I'm perplexed.
I'm very confident it's time for my final application of urea. I haven't mowed in 2wks. 4" soil temps have been in the high 40's for 3 days and forecast is only to get colder this is week. With daylight savings being over, it's going to be tough for me to time this right (or even get it done).
HERE'S MY QUESTION: I seeded some big spots (back yard and boulevard) on 8/30. While sprouts did pop, I never got through the pout phase (never had to mow and no tillering). Is it okay to urea these areas now for my final fall application?

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
You're going to have to make an educated guess. If new seedlings don't exit S&P, something is keeping them from following the normal progress, and you don't have the normal signs of high-growth followed by a slowing growth process to growth stoppage. Therefore, you have no indication of whether the grass stalled after emergence, or whether it's doing the normal slowing process. You'll have to pick a time for the urea app and hope it doesn't cause new, tender growth.

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
Thanks Andy. The new seeds cover about 3,000sqft. I have 7,500sqft of lawn that was already established (from sod in 2017). I'm gauging growth stoppage based on what the established grass is doing.
So to better clarify my question; can I cover the sprouts with urea at the same time and rate as the established grass?

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
I don't know that there is a sure answer. If the new grass didn't begin tillering, we can only speculate on its chances over the winter.
If it were my lawn, I'd probably chance it and go with winterizing it. The odds are higher that it helps than it harms, but understand that there is some risk.

Spoon feeding ~.25lbs/1,000 weekly. Preparing for the final pause. Really impressed with the results thus far.

Last app was 10/16, solidly in the pause at this point. Grass is still growing, slowly.

That's not a quote of gr's post, it just happens to be the exact same for me

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
In the Pause (eastern 'burb of the Twin Cities, MN, nearly WI).
First frost came just over a week early on Sept. 29th (usually Oct. 6th) and first freeze was Oct. 12th.
Cut on Thursday, Nov. 1st, and took .5" off for the most part. Some spots with less, but no spots were without clippings.
UREA is patiently waiting.
