Planted a self fruitful dwarf pear tree.

It's supposed to rain for about a week straight starting Thursday, so I plan to mow tomorrow and throw down some blue grama seed. I may st the mower a little lower since it's a fiskars reel mower and I'm afraid of falling behind.

Today I spread 1 cubic yard over about 2k of my yard. It is a high tech municipal product $12 a yard. Much cheaper for me than cracked corn etc. Afterwards I swept it in with a push broom. My neighbors said they had never seen any body sweep their yard before. Then I mowed. If I understand the Philes regimen, this is what I have been following. I have been applying Milorganite for a month at half the bag rate. I suspect compost could be applied thinly as fertilizer as well, if someone had access to compost, but not Milorganite..

I also mowed today. I wanted to say that last fall, I overseeded with mostly perennial rye and then followed the high nitrogen with final application etc. My yard looks almost like a golf course, last year it was a weed patch. I also used a mix with annual rye last fall which has led to some smaller size black holes in the yard. I would advise people to avoid annual rye at all costs. I did a soil test last year and have followed Andy's recommendations. I'm very appreciative of all I've learned on this web site.

Mow #13 in the books. I have a large soft spot in the back due to all the rain we’re getting. I mow every other day and I have neighbors that mow once a week, I don’t know how they can tolerate the height of their grass. Not to mention all of the clumps they leave behind

There seems to be an unspoken cultural rule that mowing once a week is acceptable. Above or below that you are either obsessed or lazy.

I have a neighbor who has mowed once.. not once per week, once. Now the yard has some issues, but it has still needed mowed more than... ONCE.

Mow #8 in the books (thank you PGR) and 1st serenade app at 3oz/k.

Had to set up my sprinkler on my leach field because it's been hot and dry here already. This is like the only spot I ever have to water and it always dries up way before any other spots in the yard.

Mowed. HOC 3".
Some of the lawn is still growing on the slow side. Will raise HOC to 3 1/2" by memorial day.
Transplanted some Hosta's
I have a few of the white and green hostas (my favorite in the shade) that go back to the 1950's.
My grandmother had them lining her driveway.
When my parents bought a new house, in the early 60's, they took a few and planted them in their yard.
When I moved to this house, in the 70's, I took a couple of plants and planted them here.
That's the Hosta's I split and transplanted today.
Quite a history!

Mowed. Grass growing so fast had to raise the deck from 2.5” to 3”. Will probably drop it back down next mow. Applied BLSC/KH. Applied 2,4-d.

I love that!

My wifes grandmother died and ingot hostas, roses, coral belles, irises, daffodils, astilbes, lilly of the valley, hibuscus.

They are all going strong. I scored immeasurable points with Mrs HLG on that one.

Mowed, trimmed, and sprayed the area along the curb to supress Bermuda from the neighbors yards.

Mowed, planted Solomon’s seal, liatris, New England aster, Cardinal flowers, black eyed Susan’s, and trout lilies.
Great choices in native flowers! I really like Cardinal flowers but tough finding a suitable area that is wet and sunny.

Mowed last night and put my first input on the yard this year. A little less than bag rate of Milo. The forecast delivered with rain overnight and this morning.

Lol! I am obsessed. I’ll wear that crown proudly and my neighbors kid me about it. It’s all good. Btw, I mowed again today making it #14 for the year

Cut down then dug up a Rose of Sharon. That was fun!
Last year half of the plant rotted away so I deceided to get rid of it.

Spot sprayed WBG.
Apparently I was correct about a weed not being chickweed because last month, CCO didn't touch it.
My first appl. of WBG 2 weeks ago knocked, whatever it was, out.
Today, I just spot sprayed WBG on the new pop up of whatever it is.
CCO on a few wild violets and one batch of clover.

I even sharpened my spare push lawnmower blade with my rotary tool.
A first for me. :good:
I need to change the blade on my riding lawnmower.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to hire someone to do it.

Everybody is so busy! Today I put special (ha) fertilizer on my hydrangea plants to turn them pink or blue when they bloom. Mowed the yard before the rain tonight and put a light amount of urea out. I've only mowed 3x this far as some of the grass is still waking up.

Well, which is it -- is what you applied going to turn them pink? Or, is it going to turn them blue?

Wife and I pulled a garbage bags full of grassy weeds. Majority being poa annua with some poa bulbosa. I’m looking forward to the heat of summer to roast this garbage grass as well as annual ryegrass. I’m not going to irrigate much at all this year
