Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Yesterday was beautiful here. I took the last half of the day off work and did some maintenance on the trimmer and mower. Mowed and trimmed my parents yard as well as mine. It is about to get cold again, but it won't stay that way for long around here.
Ordered a Pro Plugger today to take the soil samples. It will also be helpful when we plant spring flowers.
The triv is out of control. Going to try to tackle it with Velocity but so far I'm loosing the battle. I think the only real solution is glyphosate and I don't think that is an option for me.

Took soil samples at the parents house and my house. About to get cold again for a week or so. The forsythia is starting to bloom so pre-em goes down next change of light rain.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Picked up a new mower this weekend, but I'm keeping my TimeMaster. Went with the 52" Scag Liberty Z, and had the dealer order the Hurricane Mulch kit and Scag striping kit. Those should be here Wednesday and hopefully I'll get them installed this weekend. I love my TimeMaster, but spring rain showers and our kid's baseball season always make it a struggle to mow as frequently as I need during the spring growth flush. The Scag should cut down on mowing time, but I'll continue to use the TimeMaster as the schedule allows because I enjoy the exercise and time spent on the lawn.

Put down my gypsum on the edges yesterday after taking soil samples from those areas. I used less than in past years this time.

Not too much activity in the yard yet, but made a stock-up run to Site One in King of Prussia, PA.
Picked up dimension for pre-m. ended up a little over stocked since it turned out to be the .15% instead of the .10%, but it will still be put to use.
Also grabbed some merit for a grub treatment later this spring.
the big prize was when I asked about milorganite. They stated they dont usually carry it, but received some in that day, so used the opportunity to buy enough for the spring/early summer. Not sure if the 50lb bags are better quality, but none of them were ripped open like I usually see at home depot.

Did a bit of cleanup. Arborvitae sheddings, neighbors pine needles, sticks;etc. Trimmed hedges. Smiled in quiet glee as my yard starts to green up (thanks fall nitrogen!!) and everyone else's remains pretty sad looking.

Gave the yard a light raking, mostly sticks and pine cones from a wooded edge. Then put down an application of lime and GrubEx. A little early with GrubEx, but wanted to time it all with some rain tomorrow…

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Light raking, installed new edging around front sidewalk. Also dropped pre-m. Had a light rain that washed everything in. About a week early on the pre-m, but I've noticed the grass near my house gets crabgrass earlier due to the reflections off the siding.

Built and filled 4 raised beds. I know not strictly lawn related but I'm biding my time waiting to apply the prodiamine

Applied a half gallon of proxy, pint of triclopyr, half pound of prodiamine, and a little ammonium sulfate. The winter weeds need knocked down. I'm about 90% greener up. Still dont have my heads back.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Picked up more branches from the neighbors tree... yeah that piece of crap tree...
Bought 4 bags of peat moss from Farm and Fleet. Every year I tell myself I should buy a SUV or pickup so I could actually carry things around... haven't so far.
Farm and Fleet manager told me they're not planning on carrying milorganite anymore. Instead they have their own version called Estate 5-5-0.. which also has 5% iron in it. For $6.99 a bag (on sale, normally $8.99), I'm going to grab a few bags and test it out.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Finished cleaning up front yard.
Got soil samples and sent it to Logan Labs.
I got a couple of bags of Scotts Premium Topsoil (it was on sale at Lowes).
It actually was real nice topsoil! Filled some holes in backyard with it.
Going to go get a few more bags tomorrow.
Found some Halts at Agway. (forsythia's no where near ready to bloom)
Bought Fertilizer at Walmart. (for May drop)
Bought Lime (Sta Green calcitric) at Lowes.
Once my soil results are in and they've been looked at,
I will know what else I need.
Motrin and heating pad may be needed before end of day.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Neighbor's mowing guy came and mowed for the first time of the year.
In other news, finished up my nightmare project from last night.
Dug out the rest of the rocks but did not have enough soil to fill it back in, so went to buy 5 gallons of sand for under 5 bucks (shovel your own), and mixed it with a bag of compost I had laying around to make a decent soil.
It started sleeting about halfway through.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Dropped Pre-em just now. If I get the time I’ll be clearing out the flower bed later today.
I’ll be mowing grass by next weekend if not sooner.

Got mower ready for clean up mow tomorrow to get some leaves mulched up. Sharpened blades checked oil and changed filter. Noticed forsythia starting to bud so probably first round of pre em in a week or so.
