I’d like to winterize my mowers in a couple weeks but the guy across the street doesn’t do his leaves. Last year I had to mulch mow up until 2 days before Christmas Eve because the wind kept blowing them into my yard until then. He also rarely cuts his lawn
Same here...almost all the leaves are down from the trees now, but there is someone that doesn't clean up their leaves a couple hundred feet away across the street. Last year, I believe I was raking leaves on Christmas Eve because I had already put away the mower for the year. That family appears too busy to do it, but they should hire someone. Same thing every year...the strategy is apparently to let the wind take of it. Drives me crazy, too.

Cleaned out the gutters and chopped up some leaves on 11/20. There were no grass clippings since the 11/10 mow, so I put down winterizer urea at 0.5 # N/k and got a little rain on 11/21. Flowering pears and red oaks still have most of their leaves. Hoping for a nice day in mid-December for one more leaf-chopping session.

Couldn’t agree more. I can’t understand why some one would buy 1+ acres or more if they don’t want to maintain the property or hire somebody to do so. They don’t have to be lawn fanatics but at least do a baseline level of maintenance.

I raked leaves twice this week and put down 'winterizer', 2lb urea per thousand.

Dropped 2lb urea per thousand. Last mow was last weekend. All I have yet to do is cut down the hydrangeas and hang some Christmas lights.

I raked leaves for the third time today. My lawn has never looked this good in December. I've been applying things I've learned on here for one year now. Really my lawn looks better now in December than it ever did in any month in 30 years. I never used to rake leaves. My philosophy was they would blow away after they dried up. I think it is an important part of lawn health going into winter and then spring.

Ugh! Neighbor's 50-60' Fir tree came down after 15.5" snow/ice storm. Of course, it landed perfectly on the wires and wrecked 1/4 mile of electric lines and two telephone poles. There are currently 7 different crews putting humpty dumpty back together again. And the Honda generator failed too. Not a fun day, but made it into an adventure, bypassing roadblocks on unmarked/unplowed dirt roads that are behind our 130 year-old neighborhood.

Put a fork in it. Dropped 50 lbs urea yesterday by hand and cut today for the last time. Now to get the reels dropped off and serviced.

On my lawn today, I wheeled my new Lawn Boy mulching mower with a 6.5hp Honda motor to the storage shed. I bought it for $50. It's a couple of years old, like new, always been stored in a heated garage (til now) nice little mower.
