Where's the "Forsythia Bloom Line"?
It's time to start tracking the leading line of the Forsythia Blooms, for the Pre-M applications and general start of the real Spring green-up.
So, when the Forsythia bloom near you, post the fact and your location...

I don't have one(yet), but a neighbor has one where their driveway meets the road, and I pass by it everyday. I've been using it as a guide the past few years, and it bloomed about 10 days ago here in E. Tennessee.

East Tennessee Valley has shown a little yellow on the Forsythia for about 2 weeks. It is in full bloom in my front yard now. Pre-emergent has been dropped!

7a - Central Md. Forsythias have heavy buds on the south side of our lawn. Based on last year, Likely 1-2 weeks before they bloom.

I really hope, we do better than last year.
I was like May 1st last year for me, everything was really late for us. We had a very late start to spring.
I just wait for the Forsythia, so far I have some very small buds, but not even close for us.

In Central NJ buds have been trying to bloom for weeks but the bush I use as my judge bloomed over the past few days so I put down Pre yesterday.

Your post is an example of why using the Forsythia as a cue for pre-emergent timing is better than soil temperature maps.bauer time wrote: ↑March 31st, 2019, 8:00 amIn Central NJ buds have been trying to bloom for weeks but the bush I use as my judge bloomed over the past few days so I put down Pre yesterday.
I’m in the same county. But in my area, I’ve seen some buds. But I’ve not seen any blooming.

Seeing blooming north of Baltimore, MD. Dropped a small app of 0-0-7 w/ .38 Prodiamine about two weeks ago. Will do another app towards the end of April.

Yeah, same thing happens here. South side of Indy is different than north side. I see now yellow by me yet.turf_toes wrote: ↑March 31st, 2019, 9:11 amYour post is an example of why using the Forsythia as a cue for pre-emergent timing is better than soil temperature maps.bauer time wrote: ↑March 31st, 2019, 8:00 amIn Central NJ buds have been trying to bloom for weeks but the bush I use as my judge bloomed over the past few days so I put down Pre yesterday.

We have some very early stage blooming going on as of today in my neighborhood in Inland CT. Nowhere near full bloom yet, and only one or two bushes in full sun.
