Yes, basically the same as Milorganite. Personally I would wait until they have in stock again and buy as large a quantity as your vehicle will carry. Its a big price difference. Milorganite runs $10-$15 for 36 lb bag while BSF is $3.50 for 40lb. For the 27 bags I bought last Feb, it would have cost $350 more at Home Depot. For that price difference, you could literally rent the homedepot truck, pick up a bunch (the truck will hold up to 3000lb), and still be way ahead
BTW, my last soil analysis was fantastic, I'm sure due in part to me using solely BSF last year other than starter fertilizer when needed

Re soil analysis: do you take several samples from around the yard(to coin a phrase), and average them?

Yes, I think I took from about dozen different spots, mixed in a 5 ga paint bucket, and sent off 1-2 sites cups in double Ziploc bags in one of those one price small boxes at the post office (it was about $7). Used a cheap bulb planter to get soil at about 4" depth and then put the t remainder of the plug bag in the hole. Bulb planner was $3 at Christmas tree shop. I've read of some on the forum username a true soil sampling tool which I'm sure would be easier.

Yes, they're the same class of product, and are very similar. Interchangeable, except maybe for exact nutrient analysis. Many here use BSF. I would, if I lived closer to it.

Every situation is so different. I cut KBG really low and my area warms up sooner, so I fertilize N sooner. I've learned to tell by the shine and lushness.
