Question about all this rain and fall fertilizer
I was wondering as I'm watching it rain once again.
I was wondering if a lot of rain, like 8+ inches in April, and May starting the same...
if the fall fertilizer is not effective anymore?
I only mowed once and that was a week ago today. It's been raining ever since.
I guess what I'm asking is....
is it safe to put milo down. We are expecting 3 days of sun
and then rain after that.
I was thinking let the grass dry out for a couple days, mow, then drop milo (with boron).
I also think a little red thread is starting to form.

Re: Question about all this rain and fall fertilizer
Fall fertilizer is more effective than just greening the grass up, it is helping it grow the roots deeper and make the grass stronger. The rain will not effect that.
Milo is safe to put down whenever. I put it down in the Spring after putting fall fertilizer down after top growth as stopped. I use it once a month. It is safe.

Re: Question about all this rain and fall fertilizer
Fall fertilizers carrying over to the Spring doesn't leach away because of heavy Spring rains. It's not sitting around as fertilizer - it's stored as carbohydrates in the grass plants' roots. That doesn't leach.

Thank you for the explaination.
I now understand exactly what fall fertilizing does in the spring.
