No. One step down from max...about 3.3 in. Getting a lot of rain, so max height would be a bad idea. I'm never really at max height (3.75 in) in May. Northern mixes.

2.5 inches. Doing the Philes program and lots of rain.
In NH near the coast so and don’t get oppressive heat until mid June or later.
Once I see higher temps in the 10 day forecast then I start raising the deck. Right now daytime temps in mid 60s and high 40s at night.

100% kBG...Raised deck from 2” to 2.5” today. I’ll keep it there till first of June. 3” for all of June. Hit my max of 3.5” first of July. Heat doesn’t hit hard here till late June. By hard I mean high 80’s low 90’s. I like the blades to get some time at each height to build strength.

I'm at 1.5 inches and may drop it. All KBG.
I like the way it looks that low and enjoy tinkering with a triplex.

I'm at 4.25" with my tttf. Max cut for me 4.5". I had a crazy spring flush this year, warm temps and a lot of rain.

Currently at 3.5" with 100% KBG. Been there since the beginning of the season and the yard looks amazing. Will stay there throughout the year

Currently at 3.5" with TTTF. I think I may stay here this year instead of going up to 4"

Wow - this thread points out how different the "season start time" is for us folks about 500 miles north -- my KBG Bewitched and Prosperity is still half asleep from winter (greening up, but not yet growing much) and hasn't even grown enough for a first mowing yet!
I won't be raising the cut height to "summer height" until 1 July!
May and June are still spring here!

Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
Actually about the same here; my KBG is about 50/50. Some cultivars are growing well, other areas are just sitting there.
Everything is green and looks good, just not uniformly growing.

I still have my upper back that hasn't gotten its first mow yet (but will, very soon). It has Bewitched in it.ken-n-nancy wrote: ↑May 8th, 2019, 8:19 pmWow - this thread points out how different the "season start time" is for us folks about 500 miles north -- my KBG Bewitched and Prosperity is still half asleep from winter (greening up, but not yet growing much) and hasn't even grown enough for a first mowing yet!

Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
Half way up on my toro recycler mower is all my perennial rye can tolerate, if I go any higher than this the blades of grass will just lay down...so I think this is the max, I wasn't expecting to hit that till around July but I kept going up one notch and quickly discovered that I can't go anymore. This is on a new lawn so I didn't know this was the max.

Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
I'm also half way up on my Toro Recycler - 2.5" for perennial rye. No fert yet and I gotta say the grass seems to like this height and is looking good. I plan to keep it until around Memorial Day, then might go to 3" and eventually 3.5" come July. PR hates heat.

Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
What height do you typically start for your first mow. I recently did my first mow at 3.25", but only about 50% of the grass was tall enough to get cut. Should I start at lower height?

I usually do my first mow at 1/2" higher than my final mow the fall before.

Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
If you are going for closely mown turf, that first cut is a great way to lower HOC, especially if it's still dormant somewhat.
The thing to watch out for is cutting it too close and risking crown damage with a late deep freeze.
So I normally cut at same height I left off from, or lower, at first sign of greenup.

Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
Thanks for the responses. I'll cut back lower on my next mow. It looks pretty patchy right now with high spots and low spots. With he patchiness, my lawn literally looks the worst in the neighborhood though I've put a ton of work into it

Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
Currently at 4" with my TTTF. Just raised from 3.5". I bounce between 3.5-4" but was trying to go strictly with 4" this year to see if it helps with some of the burnout I get near my sidewalk.
