Question regarding Peat Moss when seed down
Got my seed down this morning in my front yard where my perennial garden use to be.
I had it rototilled early spring because it was so root bound I could not get a shovel in.
I've been fallowing ever since with Round up. Finally nothing more came up.
This morning, I watered the area first then I got the seed down.
I used my neighbor's Scotts Wizz spreader. I think I'm going to get one!
Covered the area with peat moss (about 1/8th inch).
Lightly watered the area until peat was wet.
Since then, we've had a nice gentle light rain.
What I noticed is some areas now show it's covered in peat but some areas the peat disappeared.
Should I apply more peat or let it be.

Re: Question regarding Peat Moss when seed down
Where the peat "disappeared" it is likely to have washed to other areas. If the peat washed away, any seed that was just sitting on the surface of the soil probably washed away, too.
I'd suggest you take a close look at those "peat disappeared" areas to see if there is seed remaining in those spots, pressed into the soil.
If not, and the "bare" areas are large enough to add more seed and peat moss to those spots, I would probably add more seed and more peat. Realize, however, that if it rains that much again before the seed germinates, the peat and seed will probably wash away from those spots again. If you can better press the seed into the soil in those areas (if small enough areas, use your foot!), doing so will probably help.

I did press the seed into the soil before I applied the peat (I used my feet)!.
I still see seed where the peat isn't.
I will check again tomorrow and add seed/peat if needed.
Thanks for replying.
