Burnt Grass

Post by Green » August 14th, 2019, 5:14 pm

Six days ago, a construction project resulted in tarps being on the lawn in some areas for a few hours. Thankfully it was partly cloudy and only mid 80s. I think it would have been worse if it had been sunnier and hotter. There is still a lot of green, as you can see in the close-up photo.

The damage took a few days to progress; it seems to have peaked yesterday/today. I don't think it's getting any worse now.

Here is a photo taken just now of the area, and a close-up:

3 days later was when it started to really become evident. I soaked the area with water (maybe one inch) once I noticed it.

I was concerned about recovery, so two days ago I applied a light N app (0.2-0.25 lb/K). Rain was forecast for the next morning. Since it never rained more than 0.05 inch, I watered it in yesterday afternoon.

We'll see what happens. Anyone dealt with this sort of thing before? Any suggestions are welcome.

Yup, wait two weeks and it will mow off. As long as the crowns are good, you're good-to-go...
