help with weed problem

I have a 5 acre lot with about an acre of grass around my house.

I fertilize it in the spring and have put down Milky Spore to kill the grubs (with good success).

But I don't water it as we are on well water.

Last year, I had a bad crabgrass infestation. I applied Tenacity this Spring and it seemed to help.

But with the hot summer, the crabgrass is back in the sunny areas: :(

But the grass is fine in the shady areas: :P

Any thoughts on what to do next to get rid of the weeds in the sunny area?

Thanks

Time. As the sun gets lower and the days cooler, crabgrass will begin fading in 3-4 weeks in CT. It will also roughly take that much time to beat it with Quinclorac instead.

The way to fight crabgrass is with Pre-M in the Spring, right when the Forsythia bloom. An acre infested with crabgrass in August is not worth fighting in late August.

And when Andy says Pre-M, he means an effective pre-emergent herbicide like dithiopyr or prodiamine, not Tenacity.

As the weather cools, instead focus on killing perennial broadleaf weeds. A Pre-M applied now or in early fall could be useful in lessening germination of Poa annua and winter annual broadleaf weeds if you have issues with either.

Is crabgrass considered a perennial broadleaf weed?

I'm not a weed expert, but I'm pretty sure that crabgrass is about the exact opposite of a partial weed. It's annual, and it's a grass.
