Fenoxaprop to control Poa Trivialis?

Post by Pway » August 17th, 2019, 12:11 pm

I purchased some Acclaim Extra a few years ago and have used it in conjunction withDimension to control Japanese Stiltgrass that boarders a wooded area. I’m usually pretty diligent about reading the entire label but noticed today for the first time that fenoxaprop is labeled for control of triv. Anyone try this?

I have not. But there are a number of herbicides that have slight (or even moderate control under a narrow set of conditions). As far as I'm concerned, if you have something, it's worth trying it. But the conditions need to be optimal, and that can vary from one herbicide to another. In general though, Spring is the best time for Triv control, with studies reporting 60-99% control with glyphosate. I can vouch for that...I glypho'ed a lot of patches this Spring. Several of which I still have not replanted. Nothing came back in those spots after 3 months. I've noticed a similar pattern with various other herbicides...Spring and Summer seem to be the times of year to go after it.

Sorry I just realized that I posed the same question in 2015 and did get some responses. The old gray matter just ain’t what it used to be...

Ok. But why not try it next Spring, or even this Fall, since you have it?

I've tried it, with very little success.

I realized after I remembered the 2015 thread that you shared these results. I may try it in the spring with Mesotrione and triclopyr on some small patches that won’t matter too much either way. You also commented in 2015 that the e Acclaim Extra label if full if inconsistencies, which it still is.
