Anyone have any experience or opinions about SuperU for a nitrogen source? My local COOP is really pushing this instead of plain urea, since I do not have irrigation and rely on rain to water-in the nitrogen. SuperU is 46-0-0 and suppose to be less volatile, less prone to leach, and not slow-release. The cost is $8 more for 150 pounds of SuperU vs urea. Below are a few links to the product. Thoughts???

I guess it depends on what your plan is for Fall...

If you're thinking of using this as a replacement for standard fast-release Urea as part of the aggressive program of the "Fall Nitrogen Regimens", I don't think it fits well -- it's a slow-release Urea, and slow-release products don't fit well with an every-week 0.5 lb/K Nitrogen program. That's because you don't have any idea how much of the previous week's product remains still waiting to be integrated. The main idea of the Fall Nitrogen Regimen is to safely get 3 to 3.5 lbs of Nitrogen stored in the roots over a 6-8 week program.

If your plan is to be less aggressive, then the product might fit well.

How can we confirm that Urea 46-0-0- is fast release and not slow release? I had a hard time finding mine this year and ended up ordering from amazon....As you have mentioned, the feed stores typically ship it in a plain brown bag.

Should we be looking for something to make sure it is fast release? I believe coated Urea is slow release...

As long as the label doesn't say "slow release" or "coated" or mention any other ingredients, it'll be run-of-the-mill, fast-release urea.

Maybe put some in a cup of water and see how fast it dissolves . Slow release fertilizers take forever to dissolve . Fast release Urea would dissolve in a couple minutes .
