Sandy Soil
Having never really worked with Sandy Soil, sorta brainstorming here. For those that do have sandy soil, aside from ~good cultural practices~ of amend, amend, amend, how are you guys keeping the nutri. enough for the grass. Topdress bi-yearly with compost. Fertz liquid of kelp

Re: Sandy Soil
The thing about sandy soil is it doesn’t hold much for long, nutrients, water etc as you would expect so you adjust to that. Ideally over time you build up the OM from as many sources as you can. Mulch mow, leaves, composts etc. Long process though.
I brought some compost into the mix this year (winter) and I feel like it helped the grass a bit as it didn’t get baked so much in the sun.

Re: Sandy Soil
I’ve got sandy loam and have done a lot of half dose fertiliser applications and I’ve added 15 yards of compost and 6 yards of loam.
The lawn thickened up a lot after I did the cake boss frosting of compost over the lawn. Sucked doing it but seemed to help.
