Little bugs in Massachusetts....

Post by northeastlawn » September 25th, 2019, 7:17 pm

I can't believe its almost October and I might be having insect problems, but every time I cut the lawn that gets some shade from a tree, I get these little knit like insects all flying out of the grass.

I didn't think much of it at first, but I do have a lot of brown KBG that I just assumed was disease this summer, a lot of it is coming back, but now I'm thinking it might be some kind of insect issue.

Should swarms of knats still be around my lawn?

Are they like little flies? Like mayfly? Are they close to a septic tank?

Crane flies?
So, no. Crane flies look like gigantic mosquitoes.

There really tiny, I think the cold may have killed them off for this year. I didn't see any when I cut the lawn yesterday.
