Keep it watered. It will probably come back ok.

If you are nervous, you could overseed the area too.

Rain today. Yesterday did first Milo Drop in the back lawn since June. Also sprayed some bent grass and nimblewill with Mesotrione.

Dropped 0.36lb N from ocean gro.

I was out of commission since 7/31 with a couple herniated discs in my spine but I’m surprised at how good the lawn looks despite an abrupt stop to serenade apps, less frequent mows and relying on nature for water.

Due to the current health of my spine, I’ll probably quit serenade a little early this year.

Made the "getting ready for fall" applications of things to the lawn that needed watering in:
  • Prodiamine 65 WDG at 3-month rate (0.5 Tbsp / 1ksqft)
  • Bay State, 4 bags (160#) on 10,250sqft = 0.62#N / 1Ksqft, with sulfate of potash (SOP) at 2#/K, Boron at 3T/K, and Manganese at 3T/K.
  • Scotts DiseaseEx at a rate of 2.0# / ksqft
Also decided to renovate the last "northern mix" area of our lawn, on the small "garage side" of the driveway -- sprayed glyphosate to about 2250 square feet, so we're committed now! Planning for seed down about one week from today, but we have a lot of minor regrading to take care of before then...

I dropped Oceangro bag rate yesterday before the afternoon storm. First nitrogen I've applied since June. I usually drop Oceangro (or Milo) every month from May-August but I decided to give it a rest during our very hot June-July. Lawn is looking a bit tired so hopefully this starts to wake it up before I apply synthetic after Labor Day.

Got up early this morning to Serenade the KBG portions of the lawn at 3.3oz/ksqft. The lawn already appears to be responding to the fertilization of three days ago, with cooler temperatures so far this week (highs around 80F, overnight lows around 58F-62F).

Yesterday we dropped the height of cut on the "just started renovation" last portion of "northern mix" in our lawn to about 2.75" from our normal 3.75" for that section of lawn. The to-be-renovated grass is starting to lose color and most of it has stopped growth due to the glyphosate, even though it still looks pretty reasonable. Haven't had time to make a renovation thread yet, as too many things to do and not enough time to do it all...

I've at least been taking pictures to hopefully have a chance to make some posts this weekend describing what we've done in the renovation so far.

Today, yesterday, the day before that & tomorrow will all consist of hand pulling all of the stuff my local extension identified as KY31 tall fescue.. I would never put this curse on my worst enemy. I also raked a few spots where my neighbors dogs politely glyphosated for me.

You'll never control K31 by hand pulling. It has deep roots. Glyphosate is your best bet.

If you're opposed to chemicals, use a shovel and dig at least 12" to get most of the roots. It may come back (at least partially). But it's a bunch grass, so if you keep at it, you can get rid of it.

Mowed it. Amusingly, some Melampodium seeded out from the gardens into the dormant areas of lawn and sprouted in the warmth and resuming rainfall. That got pulled with a smile. It wouldn't survive the second mow anyway.

Orioles are messy eaters, particularly when the males start to battle each other.

Well thats not what I wanted to hear.. New construction that was sodded in March. This stuff popped up about 2 months ago.. I have no clue where it came from as I've put no grass down. I told my wife I think someone is playing a sick joke on me, haha. The lawn looks great and definitely don't feel up to the task of breaking it down to build it back up! I guess we will see what happens..

I got off my duff again today and hose-end sprayed Prodiamine at the 1.5 rate (9 month coverage, which is really closer to 11 months due to the winter slowdown in decay), kelp, and soap soil conditioner.

I'm prepped for rainfall. Which we have a whopping 40% chance of tomorrow.

Finally got time to blow the compost around that was applied way to thick on Saturday. I had some spots that were between 1" and 2" thick.. Patiently waiting to see if these spots recover and taking tips on if this has happened to you in the past..

Shawn It might temporarily burn or discolor from the gases it gives off, but it will outgrow the damage in a couple of weeks and look amazing.

Got "seed down" on the renovation area of 2250sqft. Have been too busy to get a renovation thread going. Have taken some pictures along the way, though. Will try to get a renovation thread up between now and germination - hopefully 5-7 days from now.

September feeding down! Now with new COVID-19 issues. I couldn't hit the grain mill this year (I could, but it was evaluated as an unnecessary risk), so I went with synthetics, Milo and Organic Choice.

I dropped a tad less than 3.5 pounds per K of Vigoro 29-0-3 (about a third slow release nitrogen), and around 7.2 pounds of Milo per K (about two thirds slow nitrogen).

So...1.45 pounds N per thousand, 0.81 fast nitrogen, 0.64 slow nitrogen. Give or take. :-) Plus some iron. With two very different release curves on the slow nitrogen.

Rain might be this evening or tomorrow, should be this week.
