Turned on the sprinklers after throwing down some Winning Colors Plus seed on the mole trails. This one is an elusive little devil. I am determined to catch him this week.

Big winds from the hurricane rolling through today blew some leaves of and so I'm getting some good OM for the weekend. Also, tested out my new bench grinder to sharpen up blades for the weekend OM processing.

The storm came through yesterday with wind gusts of 70 mph.
My beautiful big maple tree in my backyard lost 2 huge limbs. Landed in my neighbors back yard.
I think the rest of the tree may have to come down.
Trouble is, with so much damage all around this area (Hampshire County)
my problem will be to find a licensed tree removal person available.
I figure that I would not be considered an emergency because nothing is on my roof.
but still...........

Mulched the lawn and the newly sharpened blades ground the leaves up beautifully. Wind contunes to bring leaves down.

@fun4me2 Sorry to hear about your maple. Stinks to lose established trees...

Put down HumicDG at 3 lb/m, and urea (46-0-0) at 1lb/M (.5lb N/M), then ran new irrigation system (2 days old) for a few minutes per zone.

First cut and fertilizer application after overseed. Finally looking good, deep dark green after a tough summer.

Walked the lawn. Been wet, cloudy, foggy and just plain crummy outside for a week straight. The grass hasent had a chance to dry up at all. Rust fungus is clearly visible and widespread. Great!

Well, the Hosta in the beds had mostly collapsed, so part of the cleanup activities yesterday was the annual mowing of the Hosta beds. God that is a sickly sound that mowing them makes, and I associate it with the entry to the last phase of yard work. Mowing them right after collapse allows the vegetation to decay, denying hosta nematodes from overwintering in the leaf matter.

Same here. Mulched, mulched, mulched yesterday. Oaks and Maples are really dropping now. (reminds me of growing up in Winsted, Ct. Except we used to rake massive piles into the street and burn them. Not anymore! :) ) Gotta refill the gas can and mulch mow, mulch mow, mulch mow again today. I will mow the Hosta bed on the North side of the house. They are done. Andy is right. It's a sickly sound when you mow them. No other sound quite like it

Mulch mowed. Fall urea apps really brought the grass back. I’ll put a final app down prior to next rain event.

With all the rain, wind and then the cold, I haven't been able to mulch/mow for 10 days.
Things were not drying out.
Yesterday finally was able to. Japenese Maple tree dropped all its leaves. Dogwood is still holding most of its.
Neighbor's oak tree across the street still has leaves coming down.
That's where I get my OM from.
Today after another hard frost the temps shot up to 65.
I raked the leaves out of the gardens, bagged them, then brought them in the backyard and spread them out.
Mulched mowed them in. You know, kind of like spreading the wealth. :D
Grass is still growing a little. I guess I'm still in "the pause".
Temps are suppose to climb to 70 by the weekend.
My notes tell me that I usually drop the last application of fertilizer just before Thanksgiving.

It's been super windy here. I've been mulching leaves about every 2 days. Neighbors on both sides of me are doing nothing with their leaves, so I end up a full cover if it's windy. Would like to get a winterizer feed out this week, the yard is still growing.

On the 15th, I did last mow @ 3 inches. Dropped 50 lbs of urea on my 37k. Staked the driveway for further snow blowing activities. I guess it’s 2020 nite nite from the 45 th parallel for the lawn.

I think I did my final cut today, had a 1/4" clippings here and there at most. Mostly I was just re mulching leaves. I have a few rain events making there way through next week, going to try and drop my final urea app next week.

I also did a pass at 4" on my FF in the front, no real top growth. I cut it down to 2" for the winter to minimize snow mold. we'll See if the winterizer urea app triggers anything. Keeping the FF at 4" through the fall really made a difference, it looked good all Fall despite less sun.

I jumped up and down on it a bit today.

My neighbor Mike...who I adore, I really do, and whose dogs Molly and Merry are welcome over here any time they want to come over because they play with our dogs and we play with them...was being helpful because he knows I mulch leaves. A lot came down in the last two days from the neighbors' trees, so he mowed up the side of my yard to mulch them in so "you don't have to."

Mike mows at about two inches. That part of the lawn is scalped (as per my specs of mowing it at 3.5"). I'm now hoping for a late warm stretch. Fortunately, it's not that much and it's way far over by the neighbor's fence, and part of it isn't even my lawn. And he was really trying to be helpful.
