Re: Tracking the Forsythia Line
Realized this week that the forsythia in my neighbor's lawn is already starting to show yellow blooms! Definitely the earliest forsythia bloom for the last 5-6 years that I've been keeping lawn notes. Time to get that pre-emergent down! This seems about 2-3 weeks early according to my lawn notes.

Looking at my last years notes, my Pre-em (Halts) was applied on April 19 with a note stating "forsythia's blooming".
Having said that, not much rain happened after so the effect on the weeds and crabgrass was subpar.
This week on Thursday (April 2) forecast called for rain so I deceided to go ahead and apply the Halts even though
the forsythia's buds have not popped yet. Didn't want to take the chance and I was told earlier is better than too late.
With the warmer weather anticipated the next few days, I'm thinking that will do the trick.

Re: Tracking the Forsythia Line
While not the Forsythia Line, I noticed the crab grass lawn at work just started to fill in again with tiny CG seedlings.
I'd say S.E. Mass is past pre-m time :-)
The few spots I over-seeded with FF haven't really started popping up yet, maybe about 14 days from this week Ill start to see something, there will be plenty of rain for the new week or so :-(
