And we've had many days with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s, with no frost warnings to speak of.

In "good" news... this late frost wiped out most of the seedheads on my KBG! All I had to do was have an unnoticed timing cycle on my irrigation for the back yard. .1 inches of water right before that freeze and the seedheads turned brown and went away! Of course it also severely damaged the lawn so that's not exactly an approach I will take in the future Backyard is recovering and I have triple-checked my irrigation control.
