Hope you are enjoying this warm weather (finally). Quick question, PH in front lawn is 5.56. Arrgghh! Went and got rapid lime. Is it too late to apply it this spring? Or should I wait until fall? I will have to wait another week anyway because I just fertilized last week. that will put me at May 22. Thanks

I'd suggest getting a logan labs test (follow the directions in the sticky in the soils forum).

You'll get a full workup. There's more to soil chemistry than applying lime.

Thanks bp- I understand soil composition (cations, macros) and just learning about micros. straitened out my back yard last year. When needed I have applied lime in early spring and or fall just wondered if it is too late this spring and should I wait till fall. Thanks

You can apply it now if you want to just tell ST6 that you did it (and how much of what) and they can probably account for it in the recommebdation

PSU4ME, that's true but also not true. If we are told that (let's say) you added lime just before doing a soil test, we can ignore strange results, but we can't "subtract" them from the calculations - there is no way to know what is original data and what came from the latest application. If there are enough of those "ignore" items, then the whole test is meaningless.

Andy, I agree and should clarify.

Take the sample now. Apply the lime now too if you wanted. The sample won’t have any of the lime in it and it allows one to get it in the ground now if they were in a rush vs waiting for the same to come back and get it read.

Only accelerates it a little so it was an option but it’s utility is dependent on a few things
