Moles? Voles? Other?
Hey all, I've had similar winter damage in my yard each of the past couple years. While the KBG eventually fills in, it takes a while and isn't completely absent poa in it's self repair effort. Not to mention, it's unsightly for a few months while it heals. Most importantly, is there any way to prevent this in the upcoming winter?
Thanks much,
BB

Bombri ?!?!?!?!?! Where the hell have you been??
I'm no expert on Moles, but Voles I've had. That does not look like Vole damage to me.

Hey Andy how are ya? In short I've been busy traveling around the country, the world, building a house and starting a family. Needless to say, less time to post personally and help others. The new house and yard are great minus the never ending battle with poa and a bit of the neighbors creeping bent. I'll update some of my other posts tonight so you can see how things turned out.

I agree with Andy. Voles leave surface trails all over the lawn and a few (or in my case this year, dozens of) small holes to their dens.

Any others have ideas on what could be causing this damage?

You ever see or smell skunks? They will scratch and dig to find grubs.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the reply. Fortunately, we have never seen or smelled skunks at our house.

I'm with wally. I've had a lot of that damage before (looks very similar). It was raccoons for me. I think raccoons, skunks, and possums? will all dig for surface insects. I set out a little trap with some cat food in it and caught 3 of them.
